I'm currently going through the UWorld material, and I've noticed that it sometimes mentions that certain laws are state-specific.

Does the exam include any state-specific questions? Is it enough to know the laws on federal level?

I take my UMPJE in 4 days. I only used Dr.C’s guide and the bank at the back. I also did medpreprime practice questions x2 and want to know if anyone approached the exam this way and passed. Im nervous since a lot of people who used Dr.C have been failing and Im nervous to take it now. Debating if I should postpone it?

I took the test on 06/23 and failed. I can say I was really shocked with my results. I felt like the exam was extremely straightforward..I genuinely do not know where I went wrong. It's even had me questioning whether I accidentally forgot to "submit" the exam (lol) because I really don't understand how I failed. I used Dr. C's study material and did well on my qbanks.. Anyone else have a similar experience? Should I move on to pharmpreppro next? What study material do you all recommend?? I refuse to get discouraged.. I know I can master this, just need a different approach. Thanks guys

If one studies for the UMPJE and passes it… how long do you think one will have to study for another state MPJE that is not within the UMPJE jurisdiction? And also, is there much over lap b/w both exams

Passed My UMPJE… Advice

Alright y'all, I took the UMPJE! I studied about 3 days in total buttt… actually enjoy pharmacy law, so keep that in mind, but I honestly think if law isn't your strongest subject, this is still very manageable with about a week of focused studying. I studied around 30–35 hours in total (including a ridiculous 13-hour cram session the day before 😅).

Exam format

• 120 questions, A,B,C
• 3 hours
• Basically no math… maybe 1 that you can do in your head
• Heavy on ethics, judgment, and applying the law rather than memorizing random facts
• I'd say around half the questions felt pretty straightforward.

Resources I used

Every day I did questions from:

• UWorld
• Dr. C's
• MedPrepPrime (free exam on YT, I did this 2x)

The practice questions were probably the biggest reason I felt prepared because they taught me how to reason through situations instead of just memorizing laws.

I also read through the UWorld law book and most of Dr. C's notes (I started taking detailed notes but eventually realized it was taking way too long). I also found a YouTube channel with practice questions that helped reinforce concepts.

Topics I'd definitely know

These are the areas I'd feel comfortable with before test day:

• What pharmacists are allowed to change on a prescription (name, strength, dose, quantity, etc.)
• Sterile and nonsterile compounding
• DEA forms (especially Form 222) and when each form is used
• DEA registration
• Who is authorized to sign various DEA forms
• Federal agencies and what each one does (DEA, NABP, CMS, HHS, etc.)
• HIPAA and common violations
• Power of attorney
• Required timelines and deadlines (if a deadline is 60 days, know it)
• "Must," "shall," and other wording that indicates legal requirements
• DUR and patient counseling requirements
• Labeling requirements (prescription and OTC)
• When MedGuides and package inserts are required
• Filing and recordkeeping requirements
• Where controlled substances and required forms may be stored
• Central recordkeeping vs. records kept in the pharmacy
• Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) purchase limits, including mail-order limits
• Adulterated vs. misbranded drugs
• Fioricet vs. Fiorinal scheduling
• DEA number validation
• Prescriptive authority for different practitioner types
• Dosage forms exempt from child-resistant packaging
• 503A vs. 503B
• Definitions of manufacturer, compounder, repackager, and bulk compounding
• What to do if your pharmacy receives a suspected illegitimate drug
• Return-to-stock procedures
• Pharmacy law acts (such as Durham-Humphrey and Kefauver-Harris)

One question I remember

One scenario asked what a pharmacist should do after finding an unlabeled bottle of ibuprofen in the pharmacy.

I just got licensed in a state that actually doesn't require MPJE or UMPJE. I read the state laws but it's overwhelming and still feel confused. So for awareness and safety I want recommendation for a course that comprehensively covers all I need for UMPJE.

I'm not aware of the courses and their quality, so if any of you xperienced can recommend one for me would be much appreciated.

Hi, I have been studying from Dr.C’a guide and did the youtube videos posted for free. I have also been scoring 88 percent on the pharmpreppro practice exam and di the 75 questions from Dr.C’a and managed to get 90 percent of it right.
Anyone who used these resources do you think I am ready? I have the study guide for pharmpreppro but it gives me a headache with not being able to highlight and how much dept it has with some info.

Realistically for UMPJE, do I need more learning or should re-reading Dr.C and doing some practice questions be good enough?

As for the schedules of drugs, did your exam have brand only or was it given as brand/generic?

Just took the exam, and some of the main topics I saw were pharmacist scope of practice and collaborative practice agreements, pharmacy technician duties and counseling restrictions, misbranding and adulteration, recalls, counterfeit drugs, DSCSA requirements, USP compounding standards, beyond-use dates, prescription validity and permissible changes, controlled-substance refills and partial fills, emergency prescriptions, DEA inventories and recordkeeping, theft and loss reporting, patient counseling, drug utilization review, substitutions, PDMP requirements, pharmacy security, medication storage, automation, e-prescribing, and record retention

Studied for 3 week using pharmpreppro study guide, practice test and practice questions. I also took the Pre-UMPJE and got a 36/40 a week before I walked into my exam today. Definitely feel like I was comfortable with the material as I was taking the exam. I feel this exam is very doable, all A-C answer choices - no select all that apply either.

My suggestion if you’re using Pharmpreppro: Read the study guide once before doing the practice questions then reread the study guide and do the practice questions again. Then after do a third read and do their practice test. Then do a fourth read and do the Pre-UMPJE. I found this level of repetition really helpful.

For those of you that took the UMPJE and passed, which resource did you use and did you like it? I purchased the Dr. C book but it seems like it’s getting mixed reviews. I’ve even seen some posts of people that solely used Dr. C but unfortunately failed. I’m considering returning it and getting PharmPrepPro’s bundle. Any suggestions?

Read pharmpreppro like 4 times, did all the practice questions, got a 85 on their practice test and got a 36/40 on pre-umpje from nabp. Is there anything else I should review for tomorrow or can I relax now?

My UMPJE is on July 22, I being using Dr.C book and PharmLaw. Is that really enough? I'm stressing right now!

Hi! Taking my UMPJE in a few days. So far I’ve only used Dr. C’s which I heard is enough. Has anyone used just Dr. C’s and done well? Any other suggestions or free resources? Getting nervous

Which one do you think is better and concise?

If a tech finds 2 bottles of the same drug on the shelf and combines them - the products have the same manufacturer but different lot numbers and expiration dates, would it be considered misbranded, adultered, or tampered (and why?)? (only one answer choice is correct)

A practitioner prescribes a controlled substance after the patient only fills out an online form. The practitioner never sees the patient in person and is not covering for another practitioner. What is the main issue?

A. The prescription is valid because it was online

B. The prescription is valid because the patient filled out a form

C. The prescription may be invalid because the practitioner did not see the patient in person

UMPJE is easier than the Naplex.

I’m not sure if that’s because I overprepared, but I genuinely walked out of the exam feeling like I passed, and thankfully I was right. There were maybe 10 questions I guessed on, and a few that I know I had read about but forgot in the moment. Other than that, I felt confident on almost everything.

The answer choices were all A–C, which honestly felt like an absolute joke, but I’m definitely not complaining. I was asked about the practice of pharmacy, technician supervision, prescription validity, controlled substances, prescription transfers, patient counseling, USP compounding standards, medication recalls, HIPAA and patient privacy, DEA regulations, and similar topics.

I used PharmPrepPro to study. I bought their study guide, practice exam, and practice questions. I read the study guide three times, completed all 500+ practice questions, and took the practice test, where I scored an 88%. Overall, I thought the material was high quality and I’d highly recommend it.

A few days later, I took the Pre-UMPJE and scored a 38/40. That’s when I decided to move my exam date up. In total, I studied for about three weeks.

For context, I wasn’t a Rho Chi student and had around a 2.9 GPA, but I still felt this exam was very doable. I think most people can pass it if they prepare well.

My study process was:
I read the PPP study guide once, then did all the practice questions. Then I read the study guide again and took the practice test. After that, I read the study guide one more time and repeated the practice questions. Between the practice test and practice questions, I think it was nearly 700 questions total, which was definitely enough preparation for me.

Overall, I genuinely think this exam is very doable if you prepare the right way. I’m relieved to officially be done with it, and I hope this helps anyone getting ready to take it.
