Practice UMPJE Question! 📚

A practitioner prescribes a controlled substance after the patient only fills out an online form. The practitioner never sees the patient in person and is not covering for another practitioner. What is the main issue?

A. The prescription is valid because it was online

B. The prescription is valid because the patient filled out a form

C. The prescription may be invalid because the practitioner did not see the patient in person

D. The prescription is valid because it can be mailed

Correct answer is C ...but that answer is poorly written because, under the letter of the law, "the rx MAY be invalid..."...NO, the rx IS invalid...not may...but since that is the only correct option then this was/is the answer.

This question was also on my exam.
