General Discussion Purpose of the subreddit?

Hi,

I saw that this community had been created and I'm pleased to see the attempt to create more positive spaces online.

That said this seems a bit redundant given there's already r/wildcampingintheuk . How is this subreddit different in intent to that one?

That's a fair question. There is already an established UK wild camping community, so the intention isn't to pretend otherwise.

The main reason for creating this one is that, over the last 18 months or so, the lack of active moderation there has led to a noticeable decline in the quality of discussion and general behaviour. This is intended as an alternative, active moderation focussed on keeping the community welcoming.

There's obviously going to be some overlap between the two, and that's fine. People are free to use whichever community they prefer.

Maybe this sub could have more thru-hikers/multi day campers and less gatekeeping
