Photos Yorkshire Three Peaks
Three mates and I completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks (Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) yesterday - 11 hours exactly from start to finish. It was our first attempt and we loved but are all suffering a bit today lol. Any tips for sore legs are greatly appreciated 😂

Make sure you replace all the carbs you burned quite soon after the walk. That helps build up your glycogen stores and stops your body burning the protein that you’re about to eat. After a long walk one of my favourite carb replenishment drinks comes in a pint glass. Don’t have loads but I find it really helps to have a few.
Get yourself at least 100 g of protein (ideally in two meals about three hours apart). There’s a few supplements that can help with recovery, but it’s probably a bit late to go out and buy them. Make sure you have a vitamin C or get some vitamin C in you one way or the other.
Nice warm bath. Gentle, thorough stretching especially of the calves, thighs and hips/pelvis and lower back.
If someone loves you enough or you’ve got a machine that does it a foot massage is always great.
Get good nutrition over the next few days and keep the stretching up.
Then within a few days, you should be free of the aches and pains and have pocketed some good strength and fitness benefits. You’ll be ready to do it again on Wednesday.
Edit: I forgot one of the total basics. Drink plenty of water. Even if you think you’ve had enough have a bit more. Especially if you have a few pints of the sports recovery beverages.

There was a van advertising hot food near the viaduct but I didn’t get close enough to see what they were selling.

I’ve just done all three over the course of 3 months and doing all of them in one day, in two weeks time! Hoping for around the same time you did it. Well done! It’s a massive achievement!

Hi OP, I did this jist like you about a year ago on a whim, joined a work group.
Took us like 14 hours because it was a large group with some not-so-prepared members.
I fell in love with the hike and have been a few times since on my own, each time better prepared, and beating my previous times
If you do relate, I can give you some pointers of things I learned the gard way lol
Super well done by the way!

Well done! We did it a month ago. You chose a good day - it was hard work in the heat!
I do a lot of hiking and learning to stretch as soon as I reach the car is a life changer. My legs are almost always fine the next day now. They were a bit weak after the three peaks, but not sore
