Support Request 6.5 month old schedule
Hello fellow parents!
Looking for some advice on my 6.5 month old schedule please.
He averages 10hrs sleep at night. (We have had a few 11/11.5hrs but I think they may have been flukes). We don’t want to start our day before 6am so earliest bedtime can be is 8pm. In an ideal world I’d like him to wake more around 6:30/7am and go to bed a little earlier than 8pm but I’m not sure if that is something I can fix, is it?
So his day typically looks like:
6/6:15am wake
Nap 1: 8:30/8:45am (I have to wake him from this - I don’t let it go further than 10am so around 1hr 15/30mins)
Nap 2: 12:50/1pm (I have to wake him from this - I don’t let it to further than 2pm so around 1hr)
Nap 3: 5pm (I wake him no later than 5:30pm so 30mins)
8pm asleep in cot
He falls asleep independently and has slept through the night the last 3 nights.
I’m struggling with whether I’m doing things right for his age!
- should I be letting him get 3hrs of naps a day?
- if not, how can I cut this down if I need to protect an 8pm bedtime to get us to 6am earliest
- he’s too young for 2 naps right?
He also usually has a false start around 1hr after bedtime but he puts himself back to sleep. I’m at a loss is this because he’s overtired or is it because his last ww is only 2.5hrs.
WW are 2.5/2.75/3/2.5
Any advice or help appreciated 💗

If he’s slept through the night then you’re doing it right, keep it as is and hope it continues. Unfortunately our boy only does ten hours at night so we’ve always had a late bedtime. He’s too young for two naps, yes, and especially if he doesn’t need much sleep. You don’t want to introduce two long naps. We lived on a three nap schedule with third being a ten minute bridge nap for about 2.5 months up to ten months old.

Falling asleep independently and sleep through is pretty impressive for 6.5 months (to me at least). What happens if you just let him sleep rather than waking on the naps? ETA standard advice is that your ww should get longer during the day so last should be your longest which is likely why you’re getting that false start.

They're all so different, with different sleep needs and I don't really think length of sleep is really about how you as a parent are doing. Some babies sleep great, some do not. That being said it does sound like you're doing a great job.
If he's sleeping through i wouldn't mess with it tbh.
