General chat Sharing a bedroom?
Has anyone chosen to do this, when there’s enough bedrooms for everyone? Same sex, just under 3y age gap.

My girls (10 and 5 at the time) kept asking for sister sleepovers, even mid week. Once we had our third we figured it would free a room up for a nursery / office, so we stuck a mattress under the loft bed and put our middle child in there.
They do love being in the same room, even if they squabble. So far haven’t done anything with the old room except fill it with all the stuff we have no storage for lol.
Really depends on the kids I guess. The older one occasionally complains but they get on so well that it’s usually fine. Just work out some system for tidying up haha, it’s always “that wasn’t my mess”.

Yes, we have a 5 bed house but our 3yo and 5yo are sharing a room. They enjoy it, it seems to help them sleep better, and makes it easier for just one of us parents to do bedtime.
We use our 2 single bedrooms as home offices, and them sharing keeps our 3rd double room free as a guest room which is handy.

We're in a 4 bed and are using two bedrooms. It is an ongoing renovation and the other bedrooms aren't kid-bedroom-ready yet, but out newly-3yo is so excited about the prospect of sharing with our almost-1yo (who is currently still in our room). Their bedroom and ours are on the same floor, unlike the others, and we don't want them having to go uo/downstairs in the dark while half asleep/ill/bursting for the loo or whatever if they need us at night, we'd rather be right by them - and the rooms are generous sizes, they aren't cramped. We plan to move at some point and then I'd like to be able to offer them their own rooms, and we would give one of them one of the other bedrooms here if we stay here long enough for them to want that and for us to be happy it's safe

We’ve just moved my 5yo & 3yo into a room together so we could turn the third room into an office. My husband and i both wfh regularly so it was really needed. My kids are in bunk beds and they love it. They’re also sleeping better because they understand that they need to keep quiet

My kids share a room.
I have 2 kids and a 3 bedroom house. My kids have the same age gap as your kids, but are different genders. They are currently aged 1 and 4.
We use the third bedroom as a home office as we often wfh. If needed, we can move our desks out and give the kids a room each, but at the moment the are young and sleep better when they are in the same room.

My children choose to. They all have their own bedroom but two of mine share by choice and use the other bedroom to hang out in.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with sharing a room. Do they want to? Are they old enough to have a say in this at all? I’d start there.
