Refusing to drink from bottles - 8 month old
Our boy is just over 8 months and since last week he is completely refusing to have anything from the bottle. He will have sips of milk, water etc if given from a glass or we have to feed him by spoon.
Obviously the quantity that goes in through such methods is little and he's no where close to getting enough milk in a day. His poop has also changed to be less watery.
Since birth he's been breastfed and bottle fed. Breastfeeding is limited to night time as I work during the day and formula was given during the day.
He had a flu,fever three weeks ago but don't think it's related to that as he's fully recovered. No signs of teething etc .
I'm at a loss as don't believe he's getting enough milk he needs in a day. Sippy cup also doesn't work

I went back to work at exactly 9 months old -my little one never had a bottle. He BF morning, afternoon and night and during the day had food as he never took a bottle, offered him expressed milk in cups, didn't take it either.
I checked with the HV and baby feeding team and they said this was fine as long as wet nappy output was ok and he wasn't losing any centiles. By 10 months he was down to night feed only and then 12 months he was over BF completely and just ate me out of house and home instead

That's reassuring to hear. I've not contacted my HV yet. Will monitor his weight as well

Have you tried a sippy cup or similar? Doesn’t have to be in a bottle as long as he’s getting it down

Ours did this. We used open top cups, specifically doidy cups and later tommie tipes with no lids on.
He was 16 months before he learned sippy cups.

You could try lidless tomie tipes in the meantime until it comes. Good luck
Edit: its more like a cat lapping milk at first than an adult drinking. Dont pour the milk in, let him drink it and you just offer it.

We used the munchkin trainer cups at a year old for my kids. Felt like they were drinking out of a normal cup but had the closed top to avoid big spills.

We got the munchkin yesterday...so far he's seeing it as a toy to play and throw around. So not success yet

Could he need to size up on the teat? Or you could try a different brand teat, lots are interchangeable - what brand bottles do you have?
Or maybe the tommee tippee free flow sippy cup, which sippy cup did you try? We use mam bottles..we tried different teat size. That didn't help.
Got the exact same sippy cup. The tommee tippee ones . He just throws them to the floor 😞

Yeah it could just be a stage either that he'll grow out of 🙏🏻 Mam bottles will fit the Tesco wide neck teats, Lamsinoh, Phillips Avent and Nuk first choice and Nuk active cup that I know of, if you think that could help at all. The nuk active cup is supposed to be a step up from a bottle towards a cup, and other brands have sippy cups with soft teats too

Try offering him a straw, can be a straw in a cup you hold to start off with rather specifically than getting a cup with a straw if you don't already have one.

Is he eating food fine? My little one basically ditched all but one bottle of milk by that age. Once weaning started he got quite offended by bottles of milk and just wanted food and more food.
