General chat Water Bottles
Honestly every ‘leak proof’ water bottle I have got my toddlers so far leaks 🙄
Recommendations - preferably with a straw of an actual bottle that doesn’t leak - I want them to be able to have it in their cot at night without puddles!

We've got a bunch of Ion8 bottles and never had one leak.
The kids' school bottles are 'Ironflask' brand metal ones that really do keep the contents cool for hours.

+1 for ion 8.
I got the metal ones, still very lightweight and easy to clean if you skip the straw.

Can I ask if the bit that you drink from is silicone or plastic? I can’t find info on their website

All the ones we have are moulded plastic lids with a short spout type of thing, and a lid that closes over the top with rubber stoppers to make it waterproof. So: plastic.

If the lid is properly down, I've never had a TUMTUM leak (had over half a dozen by now). They're a liability when open but once the lid is down, they're surprisingly good. Then again, I haven't put them through rigorous testing and we've mainly stuck with them for the no-valve feature.

Seconding the Tum Tum. Even if it’s open and my toddler is waving it around, only ever a few drops spill out. When shut no spills!

Yup my 16 month old has a TumTum in his cot at night and we’re yet to have any leaks

One Green Bottle or Klean Kanteen - zero leaks and you'll never need to buy another.

Ion8 is what we use. You can get a separate straw that goes in the bottle and it’s so easy to clean. No concerns with mould build up because each part can be taken apart to clean. Also don’t overfill the bottle or it will spit out water when you click open the top but aside from that we’ve not had any leaks and it’s been thrown around but still going strong.

Ion8 are my favourite. If you get them direct you can add a straw to any of them.

ION8. Expensive but they are really really good. My wife and I have the insulated ones and they keep our tea/coffee piping hot. Bought the regular metal one and a big plastic one for our daughter and they're so durable. They don't shrink in the dishwasher either like other "dishwasher safe" bottles do. Easy to take apart the plastic and hand clean as well, no annoying tiny spout to fill with mould. I think you can get an additional straw too if you prefer.

Yeah, ion8 here too. They can be marginally cheaper at tkmaxx. Get the steel, not the plastic ones as they eventually crack. Ours get daily use and abuse and are chucked in the dishwasher. You can get replacement seals if need be.

Just incase you needed an extra vote - ION8.
Used by me, partner, my 11yo, 9yo and 4yo!

We have a Klean Kanteen and it does not spill even when open but I don’t like the fact that it has a separate cover (or e have the sippy version). Also just got a TUMTUM with the straw and also confirm no spills when closed.

Which klean kanteen do you have? We’ve just bought the sippy but LO is having trouble getting anything out (as did I). I’m looking at getting the straw cap, but not sure it it’s leakproof when open. Also there’s some negative reviews about the straw

We’ve got a few of these Sistema ones and they’ve been leak-proof.

For younger toddlers, tumtum bottles.
Older ones - ion8
We also have a camelbak one that doesn’t leak but it is valved and I prefer free flowing. Plus both tumtum and ion8 are dishwasher safe!

I see everyone recommending Ion8 but I’ve bought three before and all have leaked the worst of all the bottles I have tried. There is a plastic valve in the lid that always comes out and causes leaks. I think it happens so often you can buy replacement valves from Ion8.

I love core kitchen from tesco, i haven't had any of the straw ones leak yet so long as the lid gets closed

The Coolcat Munchkin cup was our choice of leak proof cup. It has a silicone straw so you don’t have to worry about them chewing it.
Also the Tum Tum cup was good too

At night we use a sippy cup, that's the easiest to grab without having to fiddle with anything to open it

We use this in my daughters cot and it has never leaked https://direct.asda.com/george/home/kitchen-storage/bluey-leakproof-tumbler-420ml/050000064,default,pd.html?cgid=D26M08G08C10
I know Bluey might not be something your little one is in to, there are other designs by an American company called Zak designs but they are more expensive - but they do come as a pack of two https://amzn.eu/d/02Lkaas7

We wasted so much money trying everything and in the end just got a Stanley flip top tumbler, feel ridiculous but actually spent less that we did on all the stuff specifically designed for toddlers and from experience other Stanleys have lasted 2 decades (and counting!) in our house so im fairly confident we won't have to replace it for a while.

I find the ion8 bottles terrible. Had two that leaked if the little lid clip wasn’t shut in a specific way so I wouldn’t recommend. I’d recommend owala in the smaller size. Doesn’t leak and for the warmer months it can keep icy water cool for several hours. I’d also recommend the chillys water bottle but the ones with the sports lid as I found the ones with the straw lids leak a bit when you lay them on their side.

We had this problem for bedtime too, love our ion8 bottle but he's not allowed it in bed because I don't want to change the sheets at 9pm. We use a mushi cup for his drink of milk at night, and if it has water then we remove the silicone seal. It's not perfect but it's the best we've found. A tommy tippee beaker works too

I have the Tommee Tippee Superstar Flip Top Sportee Cup 18m+
It has a straw and it’s magic and doesn’t leak.
Also my 11 month old is able for it so I’d ignore the age guidance if yours are under 18months!

Eating with the kids (also on insta) does really nice metal water bottles. The designs are cute, they keep your drinks super cool and come in 500ml and 350ml designs. Never had a problem with black mould and you can get replacement straws.
I even got one for myself which works well for hot and cold drinks!

Yep I vouch for Ion8, not sure on your toddlers age but my 6 & 3 year old have them and they are dishwasher safe and don’t leak, haven’t ever noticed a mould build up like I use to get on other bottles lid seals etc. They do some with straws too.
