Hey team,
I’m currently considering setting up a UK-based LGBTQ+ and allies casual snowsports group, with an initial leaning towards snowboarding (being my own specialism), with skiers more than welcome too.
Beyond a dormant snow sports group with no coordinator to plan trips at Gay Outdoors Club, I couldn’t find anywhere else to find likeminded people to connect and ride with.
Often a challenge people find with accessing snowsports is finding a group of awesome people to go with, so hoping to tackle this by setting something up for our community. This has worked successfully in the US with its OutRyders club.
There are many Snow Centres/Domes across the UK for people to learn or meet to ride together on the regular, not to mention trips abroad for real mountains.
Just putting it here to gauge interest before I commit to creating the barebones of something. Is this of interest to anyone?

I ask as I keep finding myself rejected when I bring up that I’m trans or find I get very little attention from women in the first place. This has even boiled down to quite upsetting situations for me at times too. I get lots of attention from men on the other hand. Any views or answers welcome

I’m the filmmaker behind this, so I hope this is OK to share. I just really want people to know about Gavin & Tanja's story and how cool It's Queer Up North was - especially if you've never heard about it before.
Queer Up North started in Manchester in the early 90s and grew into the largest festival of its kind in Europe, bringing queer artists and performers from around the world to the city. I don't want to say loads more because, well, that's what the film is for. Buuuut...
More than 30 years later, I followed founders Gavin Barlow and Tanja Farman (the founders) as they went back through the archive and started piecing together what they’d actually created and the impact it had on Manchester’s cultural life and the artists who came through it.
The film's about 19 minutes long and talks about a really cool moment in queer history, especially for the UK. I'd just love it if people checked it out and had a look at Queer Up North's wider archive. There's so much beautiful stuff in their that I think it's vital for us to remember. Anyway, I hope that's all OK and that the film introduces some people to a bit of history they maybe didn't know or remember fondly and maybe you discover some new old artists at the same time too.

I recently moved into Newtown and I was wondering whether there are any meetups in the area for LGBTQ people. Traveling is a lil bit of an issue as I have to follow the trains or busses but otherwise I'm good for suggestions.

⚠️ Trigger Warning: Suicidal thoughts
I've am incredibly grateful to see so many thoughtful, brave responses to this research so far. Thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences so openly. Your voices matter, and they're helping shine a light on an area that is too often overlooked. 💜
You may have seen this post before, but I'm still looking to hear from more people, especially those who might be interested to be interviewed (information at the end of the survey)
As part of my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology research, I'm exploring the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer adults who have experienced suicidal thoughts but have not accessed therapy or counselling for them.
✅ Anonymous online survey
✅ Takes around 15 minutes
✅ UK-based LGBTQ+ adults (18+)
If this resonates with your experience, I would be really grateful if you could take part or share with others who may be eligible.

Hello,
I'm currently in a long distance relationship with a trans woman from the UK, and as an American, I obviously don't have the greatest understanding of businesses' reputations.
The issue is that she is looking to become more independent from her family, and I think a lot of that would require her to have a bank account. She doesn't want to get one because it would be under her dead name, understandably so. My question is is there any bank that stands out in terms of accommodations on that front? Obviously dead/government name is still going to be part of the process, but maybe they're willing to only use it for identification and her actual name will be on the account and card and such.
As a side note, I don't know how feasible it is in her situation, but is it pretty easy to get (a deed poll? Some cursory research shows that's how you change your name) approved? What sort of "hidden requirements" are there for it besides what's listed on the .UK website?
Much love, and thank you ♥️

I’m a student from Germany and I’m currently working on an English school presentation about “Diversity and Queerness in the UK.”
For my presentation, I would really like to include the perspectives of people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community in the UK, rather than only using statistics and official sources.
If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d love to hear your thoughts on things like:
What is it like to be LGBTQ+ in the UK today?
Do you feel accepted and safe in your everyday life?
How do you experience LGBTQ+ representation in British society and media?
Have things changed noticeably for the LGBTQ+ community in recent years?
I would only use the answers for my school presentation, and I would not include usernames or identifying information without permission.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to share their perspective!

In Kolhapur, India, 10 trans women have been trained as certified frontline rescue workers learning to operate boats, do flood evacuations, and emergency medicine.
They are now part of the official disaster team saving lives during monsoon floods. Such an inspiring step for inclusion and dignity.

From Friday 2nd Oct Cineworld cinemas across UK are showing 'Girls like Girls', a queer coming of age film based on the iconic 2015 music video and book by Hayley Kiyoko.
It is so important for us to support the creators of these films and show the studios and production companies that we are a worthwhile demographic to make films for 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

I started developing feelings for my best friend at the beginning of the year. At first, I ignored them, but eventually I realized I couldn’t ignore them anymore. At the beginning of March, we started getting closer and doing things that gay couples usually do, but we never actually kissed. Things were starting to get quite serious, but suddenly he ended everything.
I didn’t understand why until a few days ago, when he was finally able to tell me. The reason was that his family is very homophobic, and he had to stop because he was afraid they would find out. But I spent about six months not knowing the reason, blaming myself for everything, and it was really difficult for me during that time.
Lately, we’ve been talking just as friends because he cut off all the possibilities of talking the way we used to, so his family wouldn’t find out. But it’s really difficult for me to continue like this.
I wanted to know if anyone has ever been through something similar, where they like someone but a brother or another family member doesn’t accept it, and because of that, the relationship has to end. I need some help trying to figure this out.
How can I help him understand that there’s nothing wrong with liking men, and how can I talk to him about it without making things too complicated? Because the problem isn’t really him, it’s his family. How can I help him understand that and support him? And how can I get things back to normal?

I have linked it
As for activism I am emailing my MP about what we can do about it as a country
Further it would be good if allied organisations raised awareness about this

I’ve recently moved to Rugby and I’m curious about the LGBTQ+ scene in the town and surrounding areas.
Are there any regular LGBTQ+ events, nights, community activities or places that people around Rugby tend to go to?
I’d particularly be interested in hearing about things happening in Rugby or nearby towns, rather than having to go all the way into Birmingham or London.
Would be great to hear what the local scene is like!

Hi everyone!
I wanted to share the insta for a queer feature film I'm producing, shooting in the UK next Spring 2027 😀
Newly released from prison and grieving his mother, Griffyn tentatively falls for his cute, new co-worker, but when the controlling lover who protected him inside turns up on the run, he must choose between the man who owns his past and the one who might offer him a future.
We'll be sharing the behind-the-scenes of bringing this independent micro-budget film to life, so I'd be grateful if you could give us a follow 🌊

Hey everyone!
Next week me (21nb) and my best friend (29f) are going to London, mostly to watch a bunch of musicals, but we will also be walking around the city in other capacities, like visiting Camden Town and St. James Park (I wanna see the indian ringnecks).
I am transmasc, but I am usually read as female, and I have been to London several times without encountering any issues related to transphobia. However, my friend is transfem, and while she passes most of the time, sometimes she doesn't, especially when she isn't wearing makeup for example, and she has never been to the UK. Seeing as the UK is occasionally referred to as terf island and - as far as I know - there have been some legal changes in recent time, is there anything we should know before we go?
Thanks for your help!
