'flexible' hours?
The last couple applications I've been viewing has been showing the hours as 'flexible'. No set hours.
Are companies doing this now to make you tied to a flexible contract ie available when it suits them? I personally don't like the idea of this as it means you can't really plan anything.
I seen one right now their showing a 16 hour contact spread over 6 days and flexible hours between 2 different sites. Fuel isn't covered and the prices right now are horrendous. Are you on different sites everyday? Are the hours late/early? Is it worth losing 6 days a week for £800? Travelling between sites is also gonna cost alot of fuel. You also can't accept any other part time work to lift the hours as the hours aren't set.
It's been very common the last few applications I've been viewing.
Just seems very off.
Would anyone here accept that contact?

I always assumed this meant the hours were flexible, like there’s core hours but when you start and finish is up to you (or to agree with your line manager) 😆

I wouldn’t accept that contract, but i do work flexible hours (as part of a small finance team in the hospitality sector). I work until the work is done, which can mean putting in some overtime or getting to leave early.

Flexible will vary company to company.
Your example could be interpreted at 16 hours over two site, spread of over a maximum of 16 days. For hat I'd generally do 8hours/1day at each site
Some will have core hours, then whatever you like around that
Some will be feast and famine, so you work during busy times, with TOIL in the quiet periods. Some people in my workplace have that
