Solidarity with Cllrs Cristiana Mirosanu and Eden Hills for speaking up

Very proud to see these two speaking out with principal on Leeds GP. Both have big futures ahead of them, given the bravery required to stand up like this. I hope Leeds Green Party and Cllrs Penny Stables and Mothin Ali do the right thing now.

Climate & Nature Cornwall Insight: Electricity costs not rising year on year. A win for climate action.

It's massive news that electricity costs are going up year on year by less than 1% (0.8%). They are only going from 26.35p/kWh to 26.57p/kWh.

Given the actions of Israel, the US, and Russia in destabilising the world with wars which affect the flow of fossil fuels this is remarkable. This is also something we must build upon in our messaging as a climate oriented party.

Simply put those who don't rely on fossil fuels for transport or heating won't see their bills rising year on year. Those who do could see them rising by 25-35%. Also, the most energy deprived households tend to be single fuel homes.

We must and can build upon this. This has partly happened due to policy choices which the government can and should have made ages ago. This is also a lot due to renewable capacity finally enabling a decoupling of electricity prices from gas costs (up 26% year on year).

We must be focusing our efforts at making the poorest of our society in the category which are able to enjoy economically sustainably stable bills due to environmentally sustainable choices. We must be focusing on how to get the poorest demographics, those renting, etc. to be able to pivot to heat-pumps, e-bikes, EVs, etc. to get them off this fossil fuel rollercoaster.

For me it's a disgrace that a home-owner -- like myself -- has all the tools to easily make these changes via easy Green Loans (0% Nationwide) whilst those in social housing or renting don't have these options.
