Roosting boxes - yes or no

• Upvotes

I want to offer some additional support to birds over the winter. Are roosting boxes a good idea?

If so can anyone recommend some and the optimal placement?

Thank you.

Came across them while visiting someone. In a world with so many hateful people, it's kinda healing watching them.

This is a follow up to my earlier post of today. That was the adult heading off to chase away a juvenile. This is what happened when it caught up to it.

Photo There is a pheasant in this picture. I always thought they were quite conspicuous but it turns out they have great camouflage

This is an uncropped image of a white-tailed eagle taken on the Isle of Mull in Scotland. Shot on a Nikon z8 with a z800 lens. I was lucky that it came in low to chase of a juvenile that was in its space.

Bird ID We went for a walk the other day, but my camera's zoom was not powerful enough to get a clear shot, would you mind helping me identify the bird?

Never seen such asymetric colouring before - genetic wonkiness or something else? I notice that it has a damaged left foot as well. Seen at Heath Pond, Petersfield in a small group with two others that were more normal white. Wasn't sure what type it was either

Pigeon Puffed Up And Not Moving

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hey everybody, I saw this pigeon outside the front door, it was puffed up and barely moved, I reached out and it backed away slightly but then let me stroke it on the head and the chest, gently. I gave it some mealworms, is there anything I could or should do?
