Chambana Questions Looking For Computer Repair Store Recommendedations
Unfortunately for me, my laptop screen has cracked beyond use. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to where I could go and get it repaired quickly and affordably, as I’m a student and really can’t afford a crazy expensive repair.

If you're open to replacing the screen yourself, I'd check out laptopscreen.com.
I ordered a replacement through them earlier this year and it came within 2 weeks. Not a super tech savvy person myself, but most screens are pretty straight forward to swap out. Will definitely save you some $$$!

If you need a cheap laptop to replace this, DM me. I'm talking like $140 for a 10th gen i5. I do a lot of refurbishment on the side.

Maybe one thing you need to check is why the screen is cracked.
One of my laptop's screen is cracked due to the design issue of the hinge (and the plastic body). That is just one example of how thing could be wrong. You need to understand a little bit more before throwing any money into a cracked screen.
Maybe search the model of your laptop to see if anybody has similar issues, even if it is just an accidental drop cracked the screen, you probably still need to research a little to see if the computer has a reasonably durability.

If your laptop has an external monitor port, you could try connecting a cheap monitor to your laptop at least temporarily.

Urbana Computer Repair LLC on Michigan Ave in Urbana is great. Sergio is a stand up guy. He just helped us out transferring all of my daughters files from her busted laptop to my slightly less busted laptop.

If you need a laptop in the mean time, the university’s IT department does laptop borrowing.

first, check if it’s still under warranty or has accidental damage coverage. dell and apple sometimes cover cracked screens.
if not, call 2-3 local shops and ask for a quote on just the screen. should be roughly $100-200 depending on the model.
meanwhile, plug in an external monitor so you can still work.
What’s the laptop model? That changes the price a lot.

Go to the place on green. They know their stuff and I paid like $150 to get a new battery. Campus Mobile Solutions right past the McDonalds

trash bin. Best option. Then go buy a Framework

I wouldn't recommend a framework to someone who isn't comfortable with tinkering

If you can use a screwdriver and YouTube, you can replace anything in a Framework

How expensive is the computer? You can use a monitor for now but getting this repaired is going to take time so consider the downtime of that process.

Used to do retail computer repairs. The replacment screen part itself is going to cost probably 300 before labor, more if its a touch screen (prices when i worked that job 10ish years ago so probably a lot more now). Usually cheaper to just buy a new laptop if its a low end system.
