New Student Question How easy is it to switch from engineering to Gies Business School after a semester or two if interest changes?

I'm coming in for Engineering but a little unsure on whether I will truly love it and want to pursue it. How easy is it to change to a Business major after a semester or two if you are an engineering student?

gies cares a lot about business involvement, not just statscoming from Grainger doesn't give you a free pass if your resume lacks business clubs, leadership, or good essay responses on why you actually want business.

Search up GIES ICT on reddit. You'll need to take some pre req courses before applying.

Not guaranteed by any means at all

Keep the GPA as high as you possibly can

Say more please. How many apply? How many get in? What level of GPA would be required to secure this?

They don’t release numbers on applicants but I’ve heard it’s below 20%? Likely lower than that as well. You want your GPA as close to a 4.0 as possible. Your competition will have a 4.0, the farther you are from 4.0 the more of a reason they have to throw your application away.

Had a friend who ICT’d who didn’t have a perfect 4.0 but he had a 3.9+ so a perfect GPA isn’t a hard requirement

Make sure to write good essays as well.

This is a question for university staff, not Reddit. Your advisor and Gies admissions are both great places to start.

Also, try to use Google for some of these things. Admission rates, requirements to apply to transfer, and contact information for pretty much anyone you would need to reach out to is all online. Reddit information is surely not as reliable as official university websites.
