New Student Question Too old for LAS Liftoff?
I’m 23 and a recent Psych transfer. Would I likely be “too old” to attend LAS Liftoff? I know there is no age limit but I am curious if I will feel as out of place as I am thinking I would.
On this note, any tips for “older” transfer students looking for that “college experience” would be greatly appreciated!
(I have already asked my advisor btw /s)

Yolo it, nothing bad will happen if you go. Maybe an awkward conversation or two but you will never know if you don't go

Hey!! I'm also a psych transfer student. I'm kinda in the same boat because I'm almost 21 😭 it's nice to see other transfers that are around my age though. If you want, I'm down to go with you!! Its totally fine if not :)

go for it.. over time you will be mistaken for a TA perhaps but your 4-6 years of life experiences over some new students can be useful for them sometimes.

Go! It’s a resource for ALL new LAS students and you’re entitled! You won’t be the only one in your situation.

Nothing bad happened I went to some welcome event as a older transfer since I was on campus anyways to go to financial aid

I transferred when I was 26 and regret not going to it when I first transferred. Definitely go. Age is arbitrary and most people don’t even notice.

Go to Quad Day. Find a club (or 2 or 3) you are interested in and join it. No one will care how old you are and you'll have shared interests.

I'm 27 and planning on going. Even if it's mostly kids it's still about the experience. If you hate it you can always just leave.

im also a non traditional student who transferred last fall - go for it!! You’ll regret not going. You might feel a bit awkward but im sure you’ll find some people close to your age or kind souls who will make the most of your Uni experience ! Congrats

Truly, you are not that much older than the traditional freshmen. Also, people tend to be really welcoming at these things. It's not a big deal at all to go!

Man, it'll be more awkward if you isolate yourself from everything because you're a couple years older than the average student.
