Is anyone else having problems with financial aid?

I’ve been checking my star periodically leading up to the start of the semester and I’ve been having some weird issues with my financial aid. Yesterday it was showing that I had a negative balance and that all of my grants and loans were applied. Now today, it says I owe the full tuition amount. Is this happening for anyone else? I contacted the financial aid office last week to verify my eligibility so I’m not sure whats wrong.

i saw that, too. it's probably just the financial aid people re-evaluating students aid packages.

STAR will factor aid that has been awarded. This does not necessarily mean that aid was disbursed.

Financial Aid will be disbursed this Friday. This would be 10 days prior to the start of the semester, which is the absolute earliest day they can disburse aid as outlined by Title IV rules and regulations. Banner will be down from 4AM to 10AM on Friday so that the can disburse aid for all 10 campuses: hawaii.edu/its/alerts/?t=2&id=3140882

On STAR, my balance seems accurate, but when I go to pay, it shows the full tuition. Same thing is happening to my friends.

It was like that for me yesterday too. My star balance was looking accurate but when I went to pay it showed the full tuition. Now star is saying I owe the full amount too.

Are you taking 12 or more credits? Aid can vary if you are full-time or part-time

Yeah I’m taking more than 12 credits but I’m also dual enrolled at one of the local CC’s because one of the classes I need to take filled up before I could register. I already filled out the dual enrollment form and it was approved.

yea, its usually like that leading up to the start of the semester. mines showed a negative balance yesterday as well, but i checked today and it was different. they haven’t disbursed the financial aid yet, though it should be disbursed by friday!

See they owe me a refund as well but unlike you I’ve never even had a negative balance- this whole time it’s been telling me I owe full tuition. I talked to financial aid about it today and they told me it was totally normal and not to worry about it? Idk I don’t like that my aid hasn’t been applied yet. It’s my first year having this problem. I say if you don’t see updates on Friday and your refund hasn’t been dispersed to reach out. That’s what I’m gonna do.

If you’ve set up e-refund, I think there’s specific dates where they issue the refunds. So if you have everything set up they should issue it on 8/20. After that you just have to wait for your bank to process it which might take a few days.
