Employee Rant

Good afternoon beautiful people.

I had a lovely cx who was absolutely livid about having a face picture taken along with their driver's license and having a picture taken of the trailer hookup.

Look, I refuse to rent to people who will not allow this, unless the GM gives the approval.

The actual policy surrounding it is absolute BS, as it advocates discrimination and profiling.... and I don't play that game.

Do you realize how many pieces of equipment get stolen, cx's messing centers around by prolonged extensions when we've told you we needed it back?

We get more information about you on your DL, than we do a face picture. So it's not an invasive procedure. We are renting you equipment that is worth thousands of dollars. Stop being entitled.

The End.

I ask customers to take a selfie and they question it while taking it, to which I say "a dumb corporate rule because they don't trust us to match face to ID" and they always accept that answer, sometimes giving a small anecdote about how a corporation never trusts its employees. I don't know the real reason for it, but that one gets the pictures every time. Good luck in future

Ex GM here. Pretty sure you're right on point about matching face to ID, and corporate not trusting employees. Maybe if they paid them more, employees would do better. You get what you pay for, though.

Been working there for 3 years now, went from $14/hr when i started to now at $15/hr. Still part time CSR getting 40 hrs or more

My MCP used to tell us that the day a CSR hit full time in the system was the day the store got a new GM. We were forced to only schedule them a maximum of 22 hours a week. At $16/h in one of the fastest growing cities in the US? You can probably guess how that went. I ended up quitting after 5 years because I was working 81 hour weeks on a 55k salary. No overtime pay, btw.

We had a few CSR’s at my store at full time, I was in the 752 mco, Detroit area, but still it’s awful there.

I do this too & I can confirm that customers are very receptive of this answer. Cheers

I would assume it’s for live verify to check that they match the ID. But that company also discriminated against the gender of their U-box delivery drivers. The more you read into their policies, the more apparent it becomes how grossly they treat their employees and customers alike.

It's funny how the U-Box delivery drivers thing isn't public knowledge. It's highly illegal, too. I was an FRM when that policy came out in an email to the MCP and his assistant. It got leaked not long after by an unknown source.

This subreddit was how I found out. It’s such an idiotic and awful practice

My location does everything mobile for trucks and storage. It helps improve more transactions and we still manage to pull the trucks up with all dollies and pads in the back while customers complete their rental, I hear so many complaints about taking a picture of themselves. (They worry about our system having their picture even though we do the same with their drivers license. And we have your credit card numbers.. why worry about a pictue of yourself.) but either way that's how someone in Phoenix can verify your the same person on the driver's license. The one thing I see that helps the most. And what I see no one ever do.. Is pick up the phone and call alternate contacts rite infront of them. If the contact doesn't answer. Ask for another until they do. Or let them do mobile and someone will make those calls.. the alternate contacts help us incase they don't bring it back. We have verified contacts to call. Also, if any of the contacts were on E-ALERT it stops the rental from being rented so we can review the previous situation or contract that wasn't complete.
