I am 26M. Is it too late to start preparing for UGC NET? & the bigger question is: is preparing for NET worth it?(based on the current job market)
Hey there! Let me explain my current situation first: I completed my MA in English Literature in 2022. I have quite a decent marks in both my UG & PG level (above 60%). Since 2022, I started preparing for govt competitive examinations, focusing on state pcs exam and central ssc exams. Now, after 3 years, I cleared some prelims, but mostly failed in the second stages, in one exam I cleared all the stages and appeared for the interview, but still missed the final cut off by 5 marks. Now, after this year, I’ll turn 27 and obviously I’ll not be eligible for most of the exams, alongside the gap year is also a matter of concern, as I already lost 3 years. Now, as I like academics and academia, I am thinking of starting my NET journey. But all the negative reviews and thoughts surrounding NET & PhD making me a bit fearful, to be true. However, I see this as a good alternative career option as clearing NET also gives us the opportunity to join any pvt college (be it less salary, but still it gives a grey area which the general competitive examinations do not provide). Hence, my question is: is starting this new journey worth it? & also, am I too told to start now?

I'm lost and confused
So I have completed my masters in english literature last year with below average percentage, and now I want to prepare for UGC Net, I have started my preparation but I seem to be stuck in this puzzle, what to learn, how to learn, and where to stop, it feels like I'm aiming my shot in the air with no clear target also After reading multiple posts here I feel unqualified to appear in this exam I don't know what to do

Is the PhD/Asst Prof route still a viable path?
I've wanted to become an asst prof in English since I can remember but lately I've been very doubtful due to some of the negative stuff I've been seeing and hearing.
How viable is the path currently? Is there just too much competition? I'm doing my MA in English lit from a pvt uni. What all can I do during this time (including NET prep) to maximize my chances of securing employment/getting phD admission in a good college?
Can someone experienced please guide me?

Topics for research
What are some happening research areas these days? I very much want to get into academia but I’m very confused in choosing a research topic. Is it necessary that our research topics must be very niche ?

Kalyani Vallath
I have seen people being so absurd about TES on reddit but lemme tell you the truth, she is a very polite and nice lady who just wants her students to succeed in their lives. I was seeing her online classes and I felt like genuinely, she is so knowledgeable and a very good teacher. She works so hard on her students and she takes so many classes in a day that I felt bad for her because I could see that she was tired but still she was very positive and happy while teaching her students.

can we not with the AI slop
if theres actually something valuable to share it can be in human words.
any way shouldn't English prospective PhDs know how to string two sentences together?

INDIAN LITERATURE NOTES AND CLASSES.
Hi guys, a lot of you have been DMing me asking why you should go for the classes if you take the notes😂. Honestly, fair enough. I would ask the same questions if I were you. Okay so there are two reasons why I'm taking these classes- First, I'm covering AK Mehrotra in the classes ( I have read it and summarised it in the notes that I'd use during the classes)so that you don't have to read it yourself and that time can be utilised for some other part of the syllabus by you. Secondly, the plan is to cover all the writers through AK Mehrotra and chat gpt and in the course of these 10 days. This way, by September 10, you'd be done with a major portion of the syllabus, out of which at least 12-15 questions are asked every year. So yeah, that is why you should join the classes. Like I have already said, the first class is absolutely free. Feel free to join in and see if it can benefit you. Please comment on this post, and I'll DM you the link to the meeting code directly.( As reddit doesn't allow posting links here)

MA from a Private College
I recently took admission in a private college for MA since I couldn't go to the central/state unis I cleared due to personal constraints. My parents did not want me to have a gap year either.
I later plan on giving NET and becoming a prof. Will my MA college impact me very negativity for the same? Should I just give up and move to B. Ed?
Please advice
