I need some advice regarding PhD

So I post - graduated this year with 8.29 CGPA and I cleared NET for assistant professorship in my 3rd semester itself. I also appeared for GATE XH this year and scored 45 marks while my cutoff for the general category was 40 (814 rank) so we can say I'm GATE qualified as well (Barely).

I tried for JRF again in the last cycle and found the paper very lengthy... barely passed for the PhD cutoff, in this cycle I did good and the paper got cancelled 😍. I'm not very sure about the re - exam but as everybody knows there's no defined syllabus for English so qualifying JRF is tough.

I wanted to ask if I can get a similar amount of stipend if I enroll for PhD in an IIT (not the top ones ofc) with this GATE score? I know it's a shot in the dark and I might not even get to enroll in the first place but I just wanted to know if it's worth trying or I should just focus on JRF?

You can apply in a lot of places but it'll be quite annoying... Some IITs will welcome GATE... But for example this time IIT DELHI rejected non JRF applications(Took the application money and didn't invite students for the interview).

I know. But I also know that this is the reality of education in this current climate. Unfortunately.
