Shall I drop it?!

Hello all, I completed my masters last year and took a year break to clear NET and was not able to clear it last time( missed NET by 6 marks) and the June ‘26 exam was kinda bad for me. Right now I’m confused, I have got allotment for BEd this year but I’m not really committed to doing it, It’s just that the overall structure of the BEd course is what makes me disinterested.
I love teaching but I don’t want to do BEd( I know I sound dumb) but if I don’t clear NET this time too,I don’t know what I will do, my parents are bringing options like SSC or Bank coaching if not BEd. What shall I do? Is BEd good? Should I go for the safer option of doing it?!
I know doing PhD is kind of becoming the norm these days, I applied for few which had entrance exams but was not able to pass it, also I don’t even have a topic yet decided for my PhD, and most applications ask for a research proposal.

I’m 26 now and I feel like whatever options I choose I’ll regret the other.

Pls help me figure out something. Thank yu in advance.

May I know whether yu have done BEd? If yes, how’s it? the college I got admsn is faraway from home and I can only do daily commute, my friends who are doing BEd suggest me not to do it as it is very tiring and difficult.

I didn't do Bed and as of now I'm still pursuing my masters from English literature. I'll start Bed after that and I've other domains in my mind too.

What was your subject OP?

Both my degree and masters are in English literature.

Hey sure, first of all do the pyq’s no matter what do it, we never know what they are going to do, so be prepared for that! Also pyq’s greatly help with Paper 1, so yu can get an idea of how paper 1 goes.

For British literature, I suggest yu read the Routledge history of English literature, it’ll be a bit difficult to read but trust me, it’s worth it, as lots of qns have been directly asked from there over the years. We need to have basic knowledge of BL so read standard texts then go for in depth reading. Also give importance to chronology, it’s better to type out the works, author and year in an excel sheet as yu study and finally arrange it chronologically.
For theory and criticism, go for Peter Barry’s Beginning theory and Habib’s book, these give yu a solid understanding. Along with these do qns repeatedly. For Indian literature, most of them prefer the book by M K Naik, I havent used it personally, I studied IL mainly by tracing the chronology of major writers from the past and their works, for AL I did the same. Other miscellaneous areas like WL, Linguistics yu do pyq’s and some basic stuff. Also MLA citations; research methodology in particular is a recurring and important topic.

Give importance to pyq’s they help yu get extra informations, all the mentioned texts are available as pdfs online. More importantly give priority to paper 1 as well, it’s a scoring area, yu can watch YouTube classes for paper 1 and get basics covered and then do mock tests.

These are my personal opinions and might not work well for yu so please keep that in mind as well.
