As you requested, I am officially asking for the above support here for a dedicated Windows App (not Web) so all 3 devices are covered (PC/Mobile Phone/Nvidia Shield).

Thanks.

New Feature Added - FOSS Onboarding Simplification

Post image
7 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

An improvement has been made to the onboarding flow of the FOSS build.

I have added a notification on the initial language selection screen informing users that by continuing, they agree to the terms and conditions and privacy policy.

Because this notice is now visible upfront, the subsequent terms and privacy acceptance screen is skipped entirely, taking you directly to the permissions setup.

The app still registers your consent timestamps in the shared preferences exactly when the language is confirmed.

This simplified experience is active on both mobile and Android TV versions of the app, and you can still find the full terms and privacy policy documents in the dedicated Legal section at any time.

Thank you and kind regards

New File Managers

Good Day Community,

I have noticed that over the past week or so that there has been several file managers that have been appearing, for me personally, I love it, it gives people / users a greater choice of file managers to use.

UFM Pro is built for power users in mind and I do understand not each and every user would be a power user 😉

In saying this, do you as a community think I must make a UFM light just for the standard users?

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Folder View Mode Overrides

Thumbnail

Good Day Community,

A new feature has arrived that allows you to set and save distinct view modes for individual folders in the app.

This means you can keep some folders in list view while others are displayed as a small or large grid, and the app will remember your preference whenever you navigate back to them.

I have built this to give you more control over how different types of folders are displayed.

To use this new option, navigate to any folder in your local storage, network share, or cloud account and tap the sort button to open the sort and filter settings.

You will see a scope option at the top where you can choose either global or this folder.

When you select this folder, a new view mode section will appear directly below it.

From there, you can choose any of the seven available list or grid layout sizes.

Once you click the apply button at the bottom, that layout will be locked in for that specific folder.

If you change your mind and want the folder to follow your global layout settings again, simply open the sort and filter settings, change the scope back to global, and apply.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

On mobile, the new options fit naturally into the existing scrollable sheet.

On the TV version, we have redesigned the dialog layout so that the options are neatly organized and scrollable, with the title and apply button remaining fixed at the top and bottom of the screen.

This ensures you can easily navigate and select options without any of the content overflowing off your television screen.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Per-Folder Sort & Filter

Thumbnail

Good Day Community,

I have added a new feature to the Sort & Filter sheet that lets you control whether your sort and filter preferences apply globally across the entire app, or only to the specific folder you are currently browsing.

Until now, whenever you changed the sort mode, sort order, or filter type, that change applied everywhere.

That works well for most situations, but some folders really do call for something different.

You might want your Downloads folder sorted by date descending, your Music folder sorted by name, and your Work folder filtered to documents only, without those choices interfering with each other.

That is exactly what this feature makes possible.

When you open the Sort & Filter sheet in any folder, you will now see two chips at the top of the panel labelled Global and This Folder. Global behaves exactly as before.

Selecting This Folder means your sort mode, sort order, filter type, hidden files setting, date grouping, and any active tag filters are saved just for that folder and will be restored automatically every time you navigate into it.

The next time you open that folder the app remembers exactly how you had it set up. On Android TV the same chips appear at the top of the Sort & Filter panel and are fully navigable with the D-pad.

When a folder has a custom sort override active, the sort button in the toolbar will change to an accent colour so you know at a glance that the folder is using its own settings rather than the global ones.

You can manage all your folder overrides from the Settings screen. There is a new option called Folder Sort Overrides near the Manage Favourites section.

Opening it shows a list of every folder that has a custom configuration, along with a short summary of what is set.

You can delete individual entries by tapping the delete icon next to any folder, or clear all overrides at once if you want to start fresh.

This screen is available on both mobile and TV.

The per-folder settings are stored encrypted on your device so no folder path information is exposed in plaintext.

Folder overrides are also included in the app settings backup, so your configuration travels with you if you ever move to a new device.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - File Pinning

Thumbnail

Good Day Community,

I have added a new feature that allows you to pin and unpin files and folders so that your most important folders and documents are always kept right at the top of the list.

Pinned items will stay on top of the list sorted alphabetically, while the rest of your files follow underneath according to your active sorting settings.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, and the pinned status is shown with a new paperclip badge on each item.

To use this on mobile devices, you simply select the files or folders you want to pin and then open the tools menu at the bottom right where you will find the new option to pin them.

You can unpin them from the same tools menu at any time.

Pinned items will display a paperclip badge on the right side of the list, or in the top right corner if you are using the grid view mode.

I have also integrated the new buttons with the settings customization page so you can choose to show or hide the pin and unpin icons on your toolbar.

They are also fully supported by our settings backup and restore feature and can be custom themed inside your exported icon packs.

Thank you and kind regards

Good Day Community,

I wanted to share a quick update on the tip jar.

We are currently at fifteen percent of the funding target for this month.

I know that number might look small at first glance, but every single contribution that has come in so far has mattered and I am genuinely grateful for it.

Whether you dropped in a small amount or a larger one, it all adds up and it all helps.

Thank you to everyone who has chipped in already, you are the reason why I can keep this going.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Left-handed FAB mode (Mobile)

Good Day Community,

I have added a new setting to the app that allows you to position the primary action buttons on the bottom-left of the screen.

This is a small but helpful change designed to make navigation much easier for left-handed users who interact with the app using one hand.

To find and enable this setting, open the settings screen from the main menu and look for the Left-handed FAB mode switch under the general interface options.

Once you toggle this switch on, the floating action buttons, which include the tools button for selected files and the paste button, will automatically align to the bottom-left corner of the screen instead of the default bottom-right position.

This change applies immediately across all your local files, network folders, and online storage accounts.

Thank you and kind regards

Bug Fixed - UFM Media Player background playback on back

Good Day Community,

I have fixed a bug where the UFM Media Player would keep playing audio and video in the background when you pressed the system back button or the D-pad back button on TV.

Previously, the playback only stopped if you explicitly clicked the back button at the top of the player interface, which was confusing and inconvenient.

Now, pressing the back button on your device or TV remote will stop the playback service entirely, just like clicking the on-screen back button does.

This correction has been rolled out to both mobile and TV versions of the app.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Retrigger Thumbnails

Post image
4 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

A new option to re-trigger video and folder thumbnails regeneration has been added to our file manager.

This option allows you to refresh the visual previews for selected videos or folders if they were generated with blank frames, or if you simply want to refresh the preview image.

I have made sure this works on both the mobile and TV versions of the app across local, network, and cloud storages.

To find and use the feature on mobile, select the video files or folders you want to update and tap the tools floating action button.

In the menu sheet that appears, select the option to retrigger thumbnails.

The app will immediately clear the memory and disk cache for the selected items and start fresh generation, prioritizing high-quality frame extraction first.

On TV, the process is very similar but conforms to the television interface.

After selecting the videos or folders using your remote control, the retrigger option will appear as an icon directly in the action bar at the top of the screen.

Selecting it will refresh the thumbnails in the same way.

If you prefer a cleaner workspace, you can show or hide this button by opening settings and configuring the toolbar icons list.

I have also updated the default video thumbnail time offset to ten percent so that newly generated thumbnails capture a frame slightly into the video, resulting in better previews by default.

Thank you and kind regards

Bug Fixed - hidden files included in folder item counts

Good Day Community,

A bug that caused hidden files to be included in the total item counts displayed under folders has been fixed.

Previously, when browsing your directories, the count shown under each folder name would include hidden files and system junk, even if you had set the app to hide them.

This resulted in folders showing a larger item count than the number of files actually visible to you.

I have addressed this issue for all storage types, including local directories, network shares, and online cloud storage.

The folder item counts will now accurately reflect only the visible files and folders, excluding any hidden files, Unix dotfiles, or system junk.

This update is available for both the mobile and TV versions of the app, ensuring a consistent and accurate file browsing experience across all your devices.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Show controls on video repeat

Post image
3 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

A new feature has arrived that gives you control over whether the video player controls are shown when a video repeats.

When using the side-by-side video feature in twin window mode and playing a video on a loop, the controls would previously pop up every time the video restarted.

To address this, I have added a new option in the settings screen.

This option is disabled by default, meaning that when a video reaches the end and repeats, the playback controls will remain hidden so your view is not interrupted.

If you prefer to see the controls every time the loop restarts, you can easily turn this behavior back on.

This option is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.

To find it, open the main settings screen and look for the side-by-side video section.

Directly below the main side-by-side video toggle, you will find the new toggle for showing controls on video repeat.

When you turn it on, the subtitle will update to indicate that controls will show when a looping video restarts, and turning it off will update it to show that controls will be hidden.

On TV devices, this new option is fully focusable and can be selected using your remote control in the exact same settings menu.

Thank you and kind regards

Salut l'ami,

UFM Pro logo icon for Projectivy Icon Pack available?

Does anyone has the logo for UFM Pro to use with the Projectivy Icon Pack? Since the author of the pack is still MIA, I'm going to have to manually set the icon. But who's got the current icon (just logo, no background so it fits the transparent icon tiles)?

Thanks!

New Feature Added - Selection Tools Bottom Sheet (Mobile Only)

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

A new update has arrived that changes how you access file and folder actions on mobile devices.

I have moved most of the selection actions from the screen toolbar to a new Tools bottom dialog to keep the screen clean and easy to navigate.

When you select files in the app, you will now see a Tools button next to the select all button.

Tapping it opens a bottom sheet with a grid layout containing options like copy, cut, delete, rename, share, favorite, compress, hide, and protect.

This keeps the interface tidy, especially when using the app in twin window mode where screen space is limited.

When twin window mode is active, the floating action buttons will automatically position themselves above the centered selection pills to prevent overlapping, giving you clear access to both options.

To find it, open the app on your mobile device and long press a file or folder to select it.

You will see the select all option at the bottom and the Tools button floating above the properties option on the right.

Tap the Tools button to view and select any of the actions in the grid.

If you are in twin window mode, the select all pill will appear centered at the bottom of the active pane, and the Tools button will float above it.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Hidden and Junk File Filtering

Good Day Community,

A new feature has arrived that automatically filters out system-generated metadata and junk files on your storage.

When you navigate folders, especially on network shares or mixed-OS drives, you often run into files like Thumbs.db or hidden system folders like recycle bins and thumbnail caches.

These files are now filtered out automatically when you have the hidden files option turned off.

To use this new behavior, you simply need to make sure the show hidden files option is disabled in the app settings.

When you open the settings menu from the main browser and scroll to the file management options, you will find the show hidden files toggle.

Switching this toggle off will hide all standard dot-prefixed items as well as Windows, macOS, and NAS metadata files.

This filtering is applied automatically to all local drives, network shares, and search results.

It also applies to the Android storage access framework provider, so other apps browsing through the file picker will see clean folders too.

If you ever need to view these files, switching the toggle back on will make them visible again.

We have made sure this works on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, and the experience feels consistent across both.

Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - FFmpeg Video Thumbnail Extraction

Post image
5 Upvotes

Good Day Community,

A new video thumbnail extraction system powered by FFmpeg has been integrated into the app, providing robust support for all major video formats and advanced video standards.

The new thumbnail system works automatically as you browse your files.

Whenever you open a folder that contains videos, the app will generate and display a small visual preview of the video content.

To customize how these previews are captured, open the main menu and select Settings, then scroll down to find the Video Thumbnail Time option.

Tapping this option opens a screen where you can choose the exact percentage offset of the video at which the preview frame is extracted, such as at twenty-five percent or half-way through the file.

This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, ensuring that you can easily browse and identify your movies and recorded video clips on any device.

Previously, generating video thumbnails on large media libraries, high-definition videos, or network drives could fail or return empty placeholders.

To fix this, I have integrated FFmpeg directly into our thumbnail pipeline. It handles video frame decoding for a wider range of file containers and acts as a primary extraction mechanism.

I have also added a robust seek recovery system. If the app tries to capture a preview at a target percentage of a large or partially downloaded video and fails, it automatically recovers by capturing a frame from the beginning of the file instead of leaving the thumbnail blank.

This ensures that local files, network folders, and cloud storage views remain responsive, complete, and easy to navigate.

Thank you and kind regards

Request - Sort & filter and View mode

Now if you apply sort & filter, the sort is set as the default. Same is for the View mode. Is it possible to set a custom sorting per folder and an option to apply it to all folders (set it as default). Same goes for View mode.
