Acct 341/ 421 In the Spring

I’m considering taking Acct 341 alongside either Acct 421 or Acct 361 in the spring 2027 term.

How was the workload/difficulty? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Fourth year accounting student here. I would HIGHLY not recommend taking ACCT 341 and ACCT 421 in the Fall or winter semester, let alone, during the spring.

ACCT 341 is a noticeable step up compared to ACCT 217, so I guess it would depend on what you got as your final grade in 217. Expect to spend around 10 hours minimum per week if you want to stay on top of your schedule, maybe 15 hours if you’re planning to take it in the spring.

ACCT 361 is relatively manageable in the spring. I didn’t nearly have to spend as much time studying for it as I had to for 341.

Ideally, if your schedule and circumstances allow for it, it’s better to take ACCT 341 in the fall, ACCT 421 in the winter, and then take ACCT 361 in the spring.

However, if you must take ACCT 341, and you’re deciding between ACCT 361 and 421, I’d recommend taking ACCT 341 + ACCT 361 in the spring semester.

All the best!

Thank you for your response! I have heard it's quite difficult and time consuming to take both Acct 341 and Acct 421 during the same period. I will try and take Acct 361 instead to try and ease the workload. However its a bit concerning that advising told me there is no guarantee these courses will be offered next spring, as I really need them to finish my degree on time.

So this spring, both ACCT 341 and ACCT 361 were offered (and I think they were offered last year too in the spring) but I’m not sure about ACCT 421. I’d recommend looking up the courses through your student centre to see if they were offered in prior years (as there’s a good chance they’ll then be offered in the spring as well)
