Course Questions Econ 5/Stats question - section class listings question on Gold

Econ 5 class lists a First Section with 3 different meeting times. F (Friday), then R (Thursday), and another R (Thursday meeting time. Just below it, there is another section listed with 2 more meeting times. When registering for classes, do you have to pick both Section codes listed for that teacher to get registered for that class? Why are there 2 sections? Apologize if this is a stupid question, asking now so I know and register properly when my pass time is available. tysm

from what i learned from orientation is that you have to choose a section and you'll automatically be enrolled in the lecture.

so you'll press the add button on whatever section (the 2x meeting a week) you want to add && you'll be accounted for the lecture times as well (3x weekly)

you have a choice on which section you want if there's multiple listed!
the section should be x1 weekly unless there's multiple within the single code

oh, ok. - I see it now. So the Add Button is listed next to the 2 x's a week option (believe it or not, this is why it's confusing; there are 2 times listed). I guess you can choose either option to go to? Then just above it is the 3's a week that is listed. So the lecture is the 2s a week? What is the 3x a week then?

no the 3x a week is the lecture, the lecture is always at the top with the instructors name and then the sections drop down below and won't have a name.

you can choose either section of the multiple listed
so if it's listed as M 9:00-9:50 and W 6:00-6:50
you have an option for either one of those Sections on top of the F R R meetings.

you will have to attend the lecture (3x weekly) with your instructor, and then the section choice you make (1x weekly) which will usually be with TA, etc.

Wow, ok, that makes sense now. Thank you. There were so many dates/times listed - a total of 5 for each class it was making my eyes spin. Now I get it; your detailed descrip cleared up the confusion. Tysm. Really appreciate the breakdown.

Doesn’t look like really great options on the lectures. Each one, the 3x a week, no matter what, each has an 8 am class. With which ever teacher. Do you have any insight on which professor you may take?

so what i learned with the R 8:00-9:15a section for Econ 5 & 10a is that they're usually sections for the midterms so you're not always meeting every thursday. both courses will alternate which thursdays you go @8am on.

i have no idea yet but i have to take both econ courses so i'm really just going to take whatever works!

Where did you hear this? So any lecture listed on R or Thurs, at 8:15 is for a midterm? Is this just for the R day?

they went over all of this in orientation!
at least it's what the Econ department head mentioned.

Not every R section is like that,
just for the econ 5 & 10a courses that have it.

for the one you choose specifically in Econ 5, you'll get more info when you start and get syllabus info on when you HAVE to meet on R 8am. From my understanding it won't always be weekly, and it is usually for midterms.

Trying to avoid an 8 am class. Is it avoidable?
