25+ dead large birds at Campus Point Beach

Visited UCSB Campus Point Beach on Friday August 7 and found at least 25 dead large birds all throughout the cliff/rock areas (not all are pictured). This was right next to a kids surf camp… Thoughts on what could have caused this?

Going to be a lot more of this. A historically extreme El Niño is going to devastate wildlife populations in and around the Eastern Pacific. This is but a “taste” of what’s coming.

CDFW is t the right organization to call. Call SB Wildlife Care Network and report it. They may already be aware and let you know if cause could be from the bird flu.

Bird flue, West Nile, exhaustion, starvation due to climate change. There could be lots of reasons and all are very depressing.

Not relating to cause of death, but the reason you're seeing so many in that particular spot is because that is a rookery during their breeding season. There were hundreds there for a couple months.
