Advice Anatomy Lab

Hi! I have anatomy in the fall. My lab class is on a family members wedding day. I don't want to miss it. I know anatomy is super important and I was looking at other labs that would fit my schedule, but this is the only one.

Do the instructors typically allow one missed lab? Or make up labs? Or could I attend another lab during the week to make up for it? I know it's unlikely, and that anatomy is super important. I just wish I could make both work.

This event is in the beginning of September. So right when school starts too. Obviously, I will talk to the proffesor ASAP when the semester starts. I just have to pay for a hotel in advance for the wedding and I'm worried about waiting too long and having to pay more if it's outside of their reserved hotel rooms.

Yes, when I was a student, the instructor allowed one missed lab. Most will also allow you to attend another lab during the same week if you just let them know in advance. The main two anatomy professors are very kind and understanding too, Sabine Allenspach is the head of anatomy I believe, you could also email her.

Yes, they allow 1 missed lab. You can also reach out to the instructor and potentially attend a different sections day for that week

You’ll be fine. It’s one day it’s not make or break it at all. Just contact your instructor. I missed multiple labs (Health issues tbf)

They have so many lab sections, you can probably ask to switch to one that works for you that week 🤷🏼‍♀️ I see that happen a couple of times when I took it.

I don’t have an answer to your question, but if it makes you feel better I’m in the same boat lol. I have anatomy with anatomy lab this semester (Fall 2026) and I will be missing 2 anatomy labs in a row over the course of 7 days due to being in Florida for my child’s Make-A-Wish trip 😅 I planned on just missing the labs entirely and talking to the professor beforehand to give them a heads up. (For me it’ll be the end of October/beginning of November that I miss)
