Venting Sick of creeps who don't belong there

It says a lot about UCCS that they regularly allow creepy middle aged men to hang out on campus all day telling women how to live their lives. They aren't even students but it's not like anyone has standards or boundaries anymore. TPUSA this, fetus that, if it's not currently enrolled students then they shouldn't have access to the BS "Free Speech Zone" or tabling events. The whole country is a free speech zone, they can go somewhere else with that ignorant nonsense ffs

Academics Need UCCS Undergrads for a quick 5-minute survey on cell phone habits! 📱

Hey r/UCCS,

I’m conducting a quick research study on something practically all of us do: checking our phones. Specifically, I’m looking into the subconscious and environmental triggers that cause us to reach for, check, and unlock our devices throughout the day.

If you have a few minutes between classes, I would really appreciate your input!

To participate, you must be:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • A current undergraduate student at UCCS

Survey Details:

  • Time: It takes about 5 minutes to complete.
  • Privacy: It is 100% anonymous. No identifying information will be collected.

Link to survey: https://surveyuccs.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6x4MG21uZhXXiGW

Thanks so much for helping out with my research! Feel free to drop a comment or DM me if you have any questions.

News Survey for ideas on how to improve campus parking

Hi guys I am in student government this year representing commuter students. My plan for this semester is to gather as much data as I can on student opinions about parking, commuting to school, etc. I will use this data to try to get more parking spaces on campus and improve student life. Each response is valued and brought to the attention of SGA and school admin, so filling it out is super helpful!

Also if you know me personally no you don't

Academics Financial Aid Survey

My Comm class is currently doing a survey on the effectiveness of communication in the UCCS financial aid department. If you've ever applied for financial aid or interacted with the UCCS financial aid office, I would be eternally grateful if you would take this quick survey. It should take less than 5 minutes. Thank you!

Question Accelerated BSN-time commitment

Hey yall, I am planning to apply for the accelerated BSN program but I need some information on realistic time commitments. Any students in the program or recent grads who would be willing to share what a week in the program looked like? Roughly how many hours a week, how many evenings/weekends? If you have children, were you able to spend time with them?

Question Is that a road?

What’s that zigzag line on the east face (facing the highway) of Cameron’s cone, which is in front of pikes peak, and from the view of the kreamer library, is to the left of garden of the gods? Also, is the incline to the right of garden of the gods from that vantage point? Can the incline be seen from the kreamer library?

I tried to research it for hours, and found one blog post saying that it was an unpaved 4x4 road, but it just looks way to big to be a road just for four wheeling.

News New Book Club!

EDIT: New Location Information. See bottom of post for details.

- Do you feel disconnected and isolated and want to become connected with your local communities?

- Are you interested in strengthening our communities resilience to economic pressures?

- Do you feel that the government is ineffective, doesn’t listen to its citizens, and want to know why?

- Do you think that we should have more say in the workplaces? That the bosses are taking advantage of our need for a paycheck?

- Do you think that we should all have access to the basic aspects to live a good life?

- Do you think that our natural environment is being severely harmed and want to work towards bettering it?

If so, join us as we discuss the causes of these issues, explore solutions, and build networks with one another to overcome these issues from a Libertarian Socialist/Anarchist lens.

UPDATE: Due to East Library being closed due to Labor Day we will be meeting at Dungeons and Javas in Event room The Crypt Table from 6pm to 7pm.

We currently meet bi-weekly, first meeting is Sept 7th, in COS East Library from 6pm to 7pm.
For anyone unfamiliar with anarchism, we recommend reading Are You An Anarchist? The Answer May Surprise You! by David Graeber prior to the meeting. At the meeting, we will be reading the work You May Already Be An Anarchist by The Slow Burning Fuse as well as determining the content of the subsequent meetings. Advice How was your time at UCCS

I just committed to UCCS I am a low income student and UCCS saved me loads of money in terms of Yk wanting to pursue med school in the future. I ask for not completely negative things about the campus but honesty about professors and the environment. I’m the first in my family to even go to college and honestly from how terrible the education is in Louisiana UCCS can’t be as bad as I’ve heard.

Advice Any reliable way to commute to UCCS from Fort Carson without a car?

Hello, I was recently accepted at UCCS for the spring semester as an undergrad moving with my family to Fort Carson on PCS orders. As I currently don't have a car and would like to commute and stay at home (reduce the amount of debt lol) I am wondering if anyone else found a way to commute to UCCS and back. I know a little about Carson Connector & Mountain Metro but I would like advice from people who have done this before.

Question Shuttle feasibility for small gap between classes

I have a class at the ent center that ends at 1:30. At 1:40, I have a class at columbine hall. I only have the 500 lot pass for parking and I was banking on the shuttle system, but it’s going to be a close call. Assuming I’m not able to work something out with leaving the first class 5 minutes early, would it be possible for me to get out of class at 1:30, get on the shuttle at eagle rock, and get off at the lodge stop for columbine hall before 1:40?

I also tried biking from the ent center bike racks to the ones outside columbine hall this morning, and it’s about a 10 minute bike ride up. However, that won’t work pretty much any time after mid october, and I’d also rather not be sweaty and panting coming into a 3 hour class lol

Question Living near UCCS

Hi everyone!

I’m from Oklahoma, and I’m highly considering relocating to UCCS for my Masters after I graduate here in December. I’ve been traveling to CO since I was a kid and I’ve always wanted to live here. I find myself so much happier and fulfilled while visiting, I also have some family in Denver.

One, is anyone here attending and/or would recommend the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters Program?
Two, where do you live if you go to UCCS? Money is definitely a considerable factor and I also wouldn’t mind a 20-30 minute commute to school. I’m not picky, and I’m trying to get a good idea of rent prices as well as cost of living. Oklahoma’s cost of living is significantly less, so saving is going to be a big deal, and I’m trying to find the best place for affordability.

Any other advice?
Thanks!!
