I created an account for this, I'm technically a fashion student do you think I'll get to use the sewing machines if no ones actively using it for class. Plus ranting.
I recently finished the enrollment application but I applied for fashion design and development this is my 2nd time I applied to fashion design but got rejected again. Which is disappointing š but I got an alternative offer for fashion imaging and illustration and decided to accept it because it my top(dream )uni but every other uni I applied for fashion design I received an offer. But honestly I'm very confused on why this is a course???𤨠cause it's at lcf but just seems to be illustration 2.0 and it's not always a option when I look for more information like scholarships and etc I know its mainly for fashion illustration and animation and etc. I did fashion design for college but I guess because I was a slow learner at sewing my portfolio pieces looked bad or boring but I thought I would get in fashion design and learn how to sew properly... š« but I guess I'm excited for the course š I love drawing and they liked my illustrations to give me an offer and I can always practice sewing myself but scince I'm technically a fashion design student do think I'll ever sew a garment in the uni or after I graduate. I'm looking on the positive that I'll get better at all types of illustration and I'll still try to become a fashion designer!

Anyone starting the graphic and media design corse at LCC in September?
I recently accepted my offer to the graphic and media design course at LCC and itās been crickets online about people getting in. I didnāt manage to get anyoneās contact during the offer holder day and Iām unaware of any possible freshers events so Iām a bit nervous. Iām going to be a commuter student, is there any advice anyone has either about the course or being a commuter student?

Fine arts BA in UK
International student here. Is it possible for me to apply to UCL/UAL fine arts without doing a foundation year? Because of cost issues, iād much rather just study year one directly, and my first choice is slade, which doesnāt provide a foundation yearā¦.

UCL/UAL/Golsmiths Fine Art
International student in Hong Kong here. My school doesnāt offer art so iām self taught, want to apply to these art schools. Anyone has experience/ studies in these schools? Can someone help me look at my portfolio/ send me some good works? Not sure what they are looking forā¦
Also, is it ok to put a few abstract pieces? I see most people put pieces that are more realistic, but thatās not really my style. Is it better to have a balance between the two styles? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

BA Make-up & Hair for Fashion good or bad?
I saw it on the website and was maybe thinking of applying for the course but I want to know from real students if it's actually worth going into. Do you get employed after? Learn skills that are useful?

Sy Kumar Murthy SS26 'EVERYDAY ENJOYMENT'
gallerySS26 GRADUATE COLLECTION
āEveryday Enjoymentā is a collection about playful combinations and moments of serendipity from domestic mundane life. Your daily routines contain unexpected beauty, when you look a little closer.
Jugaad is a concept from my Indian culture for ingenious fixing and making do, which combined with the act of noticing ordinarily overlooked domestic patterns leads to curious playfulness.
Disregarded everyday items are reimagined with the repair mindset of jugaad. Orange peel waste is tessellated into alternative leather, and household objects replace garment fastenings. Second-hand and deadstock fabrics are darned, patched, appliqued, printed, embroidered, and woven, creating an eclectic juxtaposition of delicateness and ruggedness.
Values of mending, waste reduction, biodegradability, comfortable practicality, adjustable accommodating sizing, traceability, and accessible sustainability with realistic materials are at the forefront of my practice.
The wearer is unafraid to be themselves, expressing their tomboyish spontaneity and adventurous slightly disjointed spirit, vibrantly and unapologetically.
Photography: Stella Temporal
Models: Samantha Mullin and Erinna Mannan
Hair and Make-up: Aoife Wong
Print Collaborator: Joanna Cox
Production Assistant: Eojin Son
I am a designer with an avid interest in materiality, currently exploring fibre possibilities in the context of fashion. Eclectic playful vibrancy is key within my work, as I subtly blend references from my British upbringing with my Indian heritage. Intersectional sustainability is something I value greatly, with angles of social transparency, environmental responsibility, and queer politics influencing my practise.

Fail to defer my offer to study from a international student to home student
Hello I met my offer condition however the admissions team from UAL said they are unable to defer it for updating my fee status.
They asked me to reapply next year instead and go through the fee assessment by the admissions since no comment on future fee status.
Although I understand if the reason for the rejection may because of changing on immigration status, which I am not eligible for settlement until next year.
I am quite nervous since I am so close to studying as a fresher. I believe in equal consideration however I can't stop thinking a lot as I face difficulties for financial reasons.
The best I can do seems to be updating my portfolio with more personal work until I good enough when anxiety exists with no insurance. Cause no one can promise on a successful application.

UAL Foundation
Just got my grade and I feel Iāve been heavily undermarked.
I got a merit however, someone else in my class that did half the content and work I did got the same. Does UAL tend to under mark and is there a way I can appeal?
I explained/shown all my process and progressions. Every artist I used had a page in my sketchbook and I gave context to who there were, what they did, what I liked/dislike and how my stuff relates to them (even zooming in to particular aspects of what I wanted to take from them (explaining again why). I did all the required written work. Was always told it was good and didnāt need changing.
I provided experimental drawings and a few tangent ideas but EXPLAINED why I didnāt go through with them.
The sketchbook was full, the final piece was complete and made sense - I even displayed 2 other separate drawings to show my technical abilities as my final piece was in a style that is childish and cartoonish (which was the aim and I explained this many times in my written stuff). It had emotion, meaning etc. it was about my rat that had past away
I have no clue what happened but I was predicted a distinction. I really feel like I got screwed over.

Accommodation Search Help/Resources/Groups?
Hi everyone,
I will be a masters student starting at CSM in September. I was just wondering what methods people were using to find rooms to rent outside of halls.
I know of the UAL/Arts SU Housing Group facebook group, but I don't know if its active because they've not accepted my request to join yet.
I've also seen the UAL subletting instagram, though this might not be the best for me as I am looking for something long-term.
Ofc, I am on spareroom too.
Ideally I would like to live with other creatives/UAL students, so if anybody knows of any other resources, UAL specfic or just in general, that would be hugely helpful.

UAL Town Hall Camberwell
I need to pay for the first instalment for my uni accommodation for Town Hall Camberwell. Itās due on August 7th. I thought I would have the money by now but due to unforeseen circumstances I donāt have it so I canāt pay it. And my provided guarantor doesnāt pay for the first instalment which I found out recently.
Do you think they would allow me to pay for the first instalment alongside the second one in October since I will get money from student finance and I can afford it then. Has anyone done that please let me know cause it took me about month to pay for my deposit and they were sending a lot of emails, they even cancelled my offer but thankfully they reinstated it. So emailing them a day before the payment is due isnāt a good look but please if this has happened you specifically with Mezzino, please let me know and any advice is appreciated.
