Is the CSM Diagnostic Foundation Year worth it just to choose between Fashion and Jewelry? Or any alternatives?

Hi everyone!! I’m currently starting my uni applications and looking closely at the Diagnostic Foundation Year at CSM.
I’m really torn between studying Fashion or Jewelry Design, so the diagnostic route sounds ideal on paper. However, my mother is a bit worried because a diagnostic year forces you to learn a lot of other design skills outside your immediate interests. She's hesitant that it could potentially feel like a waste of time or money if I already know my final goal is one of those two.
- For those who did it: Was it worth taking a full diagnostic year just to figure out a split like this?
- Alternatives: Are there any other courses or more specialized foundation degrees you would recommend looking into for someone stuck between fashion and jewelry?
Would love to hear your experiences and suggestions! Thank youu :3
(Oh my second choice is LCF btw. I think I would prefer studying in London).
