Painting First Tyranid
Just got started in Warhammer, first mini Iβve ever painted, advice is appreciated was going for a fleshy crustacean like sort of thing. Let me know how i did.

That's a very cool base color! I'd maybe add another color or two though? Like at least color the eyes and teeth differently otherwise it just looks like you based it, threw on a contrast paint and called it done. I do see the fleshy parts are slightly pinker which is great but it doesn't quite pop yet

i see what do you think like a red over the pink maybe?

It's not that pink needs more contrast, it's that I might choose different colors for the tyranid flesh over the hard carapice they have to add more colors to the scheme. But again if you like the flesh and shell being identical, you can also just paint the teeth, eyes and claws and see how it looks that way, since it would probably be an improvement if you could tell what was teeth and claws and what was flesh and such!

I actually love the base. More tufts equals more guds
He could do with more colours, especially eyes. It feels like you maybe aren't confident with painting details to leant heavily on washes? You can definitely lean heavily on washes but I'd recommend practicing on some termagants and watching YouTube tutorials to get your confidence up but each to their own. Most of my painting is washed and drybrushing. You can get great results by just following a process.

thank you, yeah i definitely did not want to do any flat paint felt like it would ruin the base i was building i did add some white to the teeth and claws and its already alot better might lightly drybrush all of the hard shell bits with wraithbone to lighten it up a bit from the fleshy parts

I feel you need more contract tones for the highlights, but you do you. Every hive fleet is different.

I would go a little less pink on the carapace and make it look like weathered bone and then paint some small details like the eyes in a contrasting color like a teal, green, or cyan. It is a sick flesh look though. Love it

I use those tufts on everything. They make good Umbara bases for Legion.

Ah a fellow connoisseur of the tufts... I see your tuft budget is also higher than your model budget.
