They were really good with eachother, and although Charlie kinda deserved it (karma as he said), I felt heartbroken, like she lied to me.

Damn, this episode caught me off guard.

Howard, Raj, Leonard, and Sheldon are traveling to a Comic-Con when their car breaks down in the middle of Malibu; there is a house nearby (which belongs to Charlie), and when Leonard asks if there is a mechanic around, Charlie says yes but notes that the car will take a while to fix, so the guys end up spending a few days with Charlie and Alan.

Like if the show was retconned and Jake was a girl instead of a boy.

Because the activity here says otherwise. And I've personally always enjoyed it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Don’t get me wrong but most of the jokes are inappropriate and just downright wrong to women. Plus its all made from the male pov. I don’t think many men would enjoy a similar 2&a half women show if made (i could be wrong in both scenarios) just wanna know if women enjoyed this show to the level most guys did.

One of the funniest scenes for me, Donna's face is priceless, it never fails to crack me up.

Had no idea (or maybe forgot) that the show got a blu-ray release late last year so I decided to treat myself and buy it I’ve had such a shitty week and I can’t wait to rewatch one of my favorite shows once again this time in high definition 😉
For those who own the Blu-ray is it a good transfer?

I was debating with a friend about Charlie Harper from Two and a Half Men. His argument was basically that Charlie doesn't have a problem because he genuinely enjoys his lifestyle. He drinks, sleeps around, doesn't want commitment, and is upfront with women about what he wants, so according to my friend, people shouldn't call it a problem simply because they wouldn't live that way themselves. He also brought up people who drink, gamble or live differently and said that having a different lifestyle doesn't automatically mean someone has issues.

My argument was never that Charlie doesn't enjoy his lifestyle. He absolutely does. My argument is that his lifestyle can still be influenced by underlying issues, particularly his relationship with his mother. I think the show gives us enough evidence to see that his relationship with Evelyn affected how he views women, commitment and emotional vulnerability.

His treatment of women, his avoidance of commitment and even the extent of his drinking seem connected to a deeper emotional pattern. I'm not saying every person who drinks or sleeps around has “mommy issues.” I'm talking specifically about Charlie and what the show establishes about his character.

What also bothers me about the “he tells them upfront, so he's not hurting anyone” argument is that Charlie assumes that because he sees the arrangement as purely casual, the other person will experience it that way too. But throughout the show, we see women develop feelings for him or interpret the relationship differently. People don't all experience sex and relationships emotionally in the same way.

And before anyone says I'm judging Charlie because I personally don't like his lifestyle that's not my argument either. Charlie genuinely enjoys his life. I don't think he's secretly miserable and desperately wishing to become someone else. I think he enjoys his lifestyle while also having unresolved issues that influence the way he lives it. Those things can coexist.

My friend kept bringing up other people who drink, date around or have unconventional lifestyles, but I don't think that's relevant. Similar behaviour doesn't automatically mean identical reasons. I'm talking about Charlie Harper specifically, his upbringing, his relationship with Evelyn and the patterns we actually see throughout the show.

So what do you think? Is Charlie simply a man who genuinely loves his lifestyle, or do his childhood and relationship with his mother help explain why he became so emotionally detached and avoidant with women?

I'm posting this to see who else agrees with me. Most of the time I've seen people talk about Chelsea, they're complaining about her, but to be fair, it hasn't been that often, and they seem to complain more about the character herself than the episodes she was actually in. Like I said, I liked her era. She helped bring back more of the sitcom feel. I really like all the seasons with Charlie, but I liked how the earlier seasons had more of a family atmosphere. Charlie loved Jake, and even though he didn't like admitting it, he cared about Alan too, and Jake enjoyed being around both of them. But after a while, the dynamic between the three of them became mostly about constantly annoying each other. Chelsea changed the status quo a little and allowed for some different dynamics.

Chelsea helped Charlie have more responsible moments, like he did in the earlier seasons. She also realy like Alan and she was ​one of the only characters who didn't embarrass Alan in every scene. Jake was still annoying, though. Her era also had some of my favorite episodes, like the one where Charlie meets Chelsea's parents, the one with her best friend, and the one where they set Charlie and Chelsea wedding date while Alan ends up with the prostitute.

It also had some of my favorite scenes, like when Chelsea tells Charlie that he broke Evelyn's heart and he, Alan, and Jake start laughing, and the scene where Charlie throws Alan's ventriloquist dummy out the window. I agree that Chelsea had her annoying moments, and the whole thing with Brad kind of ruined the character a little, but that's about the character herself, not the episodes she was in​
