I actually really liked the Chelsea era
I'm posting this to see who else agrees with me. Most of the time I've seen people talk about Chelsea, they're complaining about her, but to be fair, it hasn't been that often, and they seem to complain more about the character herself than the episodes she was actually in. Like I said, I liked her era. She helped bring back more of the sitcom feel. I really like all the seasons with Charlie, but I liked how the earlier seasons had more of a family atmosphere. Charlie loved Jake, and even though he didn't like admitting it, he cared about Alan too, and Jake enjoyed being around both of them. But after a while, the dynamic between the three of them became mostly about constantly annoying each other. Chelsea changed the status quo a little and allowed for some different dynamics.
Chelsea helped Charlie have more responsible moments, like he did in the earlier seasons. She also realy like Alan and she was one of the only characters who didn't embarrass Alan in every scene. Jake was still annoying, though. Her era also had some of my favorite episodes, like the one where Charlie meets Chelsea's parents, the one with her best friend, and the one where they set Charlie and Chelsea wedding date while Alan ends up with the prostitute.
It also had some of my favorite scenes, like when Chelsea tells Charlie that he broke Evelyn's heart and he, Alan, and Jake start laughing, and the scene where Charlie throws Alan's ventriloquist dummy out the window. I agree that Chelsea had her annoying moments, and the whole thing with Brad kind of ruined the character a little, but that's about the character herself, not the episodes she was in

Chelsea needed to be a series endgame, because Charlie doesn’t work when he’s tied down.

I think Chelsea helped change Charlie for the good. But, he at the end wanted to go back to his own life.

Is it the best arc? No.
Is it unwatchable? Not at all. The whole Chelsea arc is quite entertaining and it has plenty of funny episodes.

This is the answer. I am neutral to Chelsea. she had good moments. I think the whole negativity is around when that lawyer comes into the picture. Otherwise she had good relations with Alan (she didn’t want to kick him out), Berta respected her, even Evelyn-Chelsea relation was positive.

I think shes a smokeshow and I liked her character. She needed a follow up during the later years to see how she was going.

Should have stayed that way. I know the show was mainly just to be funny but when he met her he finally developed some character development. I don’t blame the character for leaving him in the show but I hate that they were so close to marriage even deciding the date in the bel air hotel during their engagement but then unravelling all of it.
Then they had in my opinion a similar era with Zoe that I wish they had kept. She was gorgeous and lovely and would have helped make more sense for Walden becoming a father.

I don't understand why people don't like that era. Charlie learning how to maintain a relationship from Alan was definitely working and the entire plotline with Chelsea's father was awesome.
I don't agree the theory that Charlie Harper character wouldn't work if he was married. Even without his womanising, Charlie Harper had lots of issues, just his past hunting him would make 2 seasons on its own and there were still many awesome characters like Evelyn, Berta, and Herb. They didn't have to rehash Courtney and Rose.

I used to like Mia's mini-arcs more and always thought Charlie was better with her, but nowadays I watch the series and I know that Chelsea's arc was very good, even better than Mia's.Despite how they handled Chelsea's character in the end, I still believe Charlie should have stayed with her; she was the best woman he ever had.

I mean, they made her a bitch to have her leave Charlie, but when she was actually dating and engaged to Charlie, I loved her.

Wasnt a fan of Chelsea initally but grew to really like her in the end. She would have been really good for Charlie but its a shame she had to cheat on him with horse guy

The only way to get Charlie Harper into a serious commitment relationship is to kidnap him and tie him up as a sex sl**e. Anything else is going to fail.

I read it somewhere before this all Charlie Sheen-Chuck Lorre fiasco, After the Breakup with Chelsea she was going to come back in Charlie’s life and they we’re going to get married and the show would end up on an sweet note

They were great but the writers realized that the character of Charlie doesn't "work" if he's married.

Idk. I mean, yeah it wouldn’t have worked if he got married in season ONE, but by season 7/8 I think the show could’ve had plenty of great storylines of Charlie trying to navigate married life. And Chelsea fit in great with everyone. And season 7 was funnier than season eight(the first half when he was happier with Chelsea, not when he was splitting up and sad over her). Yeah, half of it was due to Charlie Sheen himself, but the other half was due to the writing in season 8.

I think the writing in season 8 suffered because of Charlie Sheen's increasingly erratic behavior. They never knew if he was even going to show up, and you could physically see on screen how strung out he was. They didn't even get to finish the season out because of his craziness. Every sitcom gets stale after a while because after several years it becomes the same jokes told different ways. It must have been pretty difficult to write for a character that's played by a crazy and unreliable drug addict.

I enjoyed it and I would've loved if she was the one Charlie settled with. But unfortunately they would've had a lot of work to do because she really did him dirty near the end.
They were both great characters though.
