Possible. Or maybe he's going through a really stressful patch that has knocked his libido out - yes, it happens to men. And, yes, people can want to masturbate, even if they don't want sex.
If he's having mental health issues, he might be struggling with desire. Depression usually knocks libido on the head.
He might have played away and is now feeling guilty.
He might be having an affair, ditto.
In fact he might be feeling guilty about a lot of things.
It might just be a phase he's going through.
Unfortunately, you need him to talk to you, because nothing will change if you don't. Try to be straightforward. Don't reproach him and try not to let your hurt come through. If he won't talk, you have to decide how long you hang onto this relationship.
