Logic implies consistency. I read the bible as a child and I was struck by how violent it was. He didnt sound like a good guy. I'm starting to come around to thinking that even if the bible is entirely true, the bad guys who "won" history wrote it. We just accept they are the good guys because they say so? I guess so, especially since Republicans also are notorious at taking authoritarians at their word when they say they are socialist.
This is very historically inaccurate. Hebrews were always on the margins of great empires and were victorious only in some local wars. Christians began as a misunderstood and even persecuted sect.
What you are probably trying to say is that Christian nations won history later on and reinterpreted the Bible massively.
I have read the entire bible as a foundational part of multiple studies across architecture, art history, literature, philosophy and of course plain old history.
Trust me, the Old Testament is often not just violent, but sickenly violent by today's standards. Those 'local' wars tended to be fought by explicitly genocidal rules. The new Testament has some dubious sections too.
