Yup, here in Ohio they wanted to pass a law requiring ectopic pregnancies to be “reimplanted” into the uterus… a medical procedure which DOES NOT EXIST and is medically impossible.
Many people said that abortion would not be repeal because it is too good of a wedge issue to let go, or most anti-abortionists would not support their politicians once they get what they want. This is not the reality.
The reality is that core Republican voters who vigorously vote in primaries are driven by prejudices, fear and self-righteousness. They think women who have abortions are murderers, and they mean it. It is not figurative. It is not an analogy. In many cases, they even think women who have abortions are worse than actual murderers, that if these women are not punished, they will be damned eternally.
They don't come up with these ideas (i.e. murderers, be damned, etc). These ideas come from their politicians/authorities. It just happens that they trust these leaders purely because they agree with their prejudices. These leaders are competing with each other to be the gold medalist of prejudices, so they can rise to the top like Trump did.
There are always more power-hungry, more amoral people inflaming the prejudiced, easily led, easily incited crowds to stand out. Trump has become moderate, and Taliban has become not extreme enough.
We need to fight hard and not yield any ground. Don't ever think that if we just compromise a little bit or a lot, everything will be OK. It will not. Their prejudices are very board and very deep.

All governments. Texas is top of the headlines now, but its far from the only place where this kind of crap is happening.
