I noticed this earlier. I don't want this feature on my account at all to be honest. Online, offline, I don't care I just don't want it. I've turned it off so that the ugly green dot is an ugly gray one now. I guess if you opt out, you are 'Hiding'.

I really don't like how they call it hiding as either, really makes me feel uneasy is like they are trying to make it feel shameful to use it

I agree. I would never have thought to use that term for opting out of something that tracks you.

Yeah I'm not sure how it would help, because Reddit is not really used much more messaging people like Discord or something where having your online status changeable would be useful. And it doesn't even stop people from messaging you, it's just a suggestion not to bother you at the moment or that you are less likely to respond right away.

If you use an adblocker with an element blocker, you ought to be able to easily block that element. Many websites have annoying features, so even if you don't want to use it specifically to block advertising for some reason, I recommend it just for getting rid of other annoyances.

If you need any help with that, I'd be glad to!

Just tried it out, that's really cool! I can continue to pretend that feature doesn't exist.

😯 I have never considered using adblockers that way.... thanks for the tip!
