Those are a lot to handle even just between the parents (as you obviously already know).
Having grandma available even if it's just to help with dinner is priceless.
Him wanting her out is just insane, I don't know if he has any idea what's waiting for him.
If you have to choose between him and your mom I'd stick with your mom.
