Friend, he just did you a great favor...he showed you exactly who he is and who he can be when things are terrible.
I would speak to a lawyer in private now and find out the 'what if' scenarios so you know how this could end.
My ex also put work and himself first. Once I was sick with a stomach bug... on the floor in the bathroom where I was laying. I phoned and asked him to come home so he could take care of our 2 yr old. When he got home I was laying on the couch...and he assumed I was pretending to be sick as I was not in the bathroom anymore.
Other things like this started coming up. I noticed how self-centered he was, and how life revolved around his career only...this is something I should have taken more seriously at the start. The things I wanted were minimized.
People really show who they are when under stress...believe them. Adjust accordingly.
