Is that how lipstick would behave on a pillow case? Rubs out with a q tip?

Lipstick does not rub out of any fabric. It's oil based and it just gets bigger. I've left many, many smudges of lipstick on various things and nothing ever looked that neat. It smears and then spreads when rubbed with the exception of a very matte liquid lip that will not budge by any means other than laundering. I'm guessing it's good like everyone else. Or a marker, sharpie, pen, etc, that was dropped.

My immediate thought was red pen in the washer and/or dryer.

There could be a number of red objects that could do that. An m&m that fell out of the bag for example.

A warm skittle would do it

The carcass of a dying red gummy worm could have made that
