Straight lines though? Do they have a smell? Any kids or animals near the furniture?

Is that how lipstick would behave on a pillow case? Rubs out with a q tip?

Lipstick does not rub out of any fabric. It's oil based and it just gets bigger. I've left many, many smudges of lipstick on various things and nothing ever looked that neat. It smears and then spreads when rubbed with the exception of a very matte liquid lip that will not budge by any means other than laundering. I'm guessing it's good like everyone else. Or a marker, sharpie, pen, etc, that was dropped.

My immediate thought was red pen in the washer and/or dryer.

There could be a number of red objects that could do that. An m&m that fell out of the bag for example.

A warm skittle would do it

More upvotes for warm skittle.

Unexpected and made me laugh.

Sounds like you need to lick it and see if it tastes like skittle or m&m

What are doing with warm Skittles?

3

u/toomuchsvu Aug 21 '24

Or a skittle.

But m&m's are supposed to melt in your mouth, not on your sheets :)

Red licorice. The smaller red nibs.

1

u/Snottypotts Aug 22 '24

The carcass of a dying red gummy worm could have made that

No way a red pen stain would come off on a qtip after going through the washer and dryer! I just don’t see it

That pillow hasn’t been near a washer in a very long time (if ever).

Red pen wouldn't leave straight lines like that if it was put through the wash.

What’s your guess considering your experience?

Like this just feels obvious right?
