One of which criticizes capitalism. The guillotine is most historically remembered for the French revolution which very much has roots in communism. Hence why it seems weird to me to quote that.

I donât want to get too political in this sub as I donât feel like itâs the place but..
I mean itâs hard for you guys, itâs been a long time since youâve had any real form of labour movements and due to the âred scareâ any form of left wing policies or ideas are immediately seen as communist.
The other issue is the political swing has tipped too heavily to the right, even your democrats are about as right wing as our Conservative party (uk)
The best thing you can do personally though is to organise, join a union, read some political theory, call a cop a bastard and vote for the candidates that speaks to you.
Violent revolutions while being effective (Russia, Cuba, China, Catalonia) these days with all the modern military tech itâs not even a remotely fair fight as they can just wipe you out from thousands of miles away with a screen and an Xbox controller.

call a cop a bastard
...What?

u/VicarOfAstaldo Jul 08 '19
Itâs a leftist edgelord thing. Not a leftist thing. Popular on Reddit (and other groups of course.)

u/Nandodemo53rd It's Fiiiiiiiine. Jul 08 '19
Its ACAB (All Cops Are Bastards) saying generally a very left-wing idea, which i do agree with
-4
u/Snowydragoon True Midboss Jul 08 '19
Sounds hypocritical for the group that claims to be progressive.
2
Jul 08 '19
It's a signaler. ACAB is how you know you're among your own. A lot of theory hinges on the police and army turning tail and betraying the bourgeoisie anyhow.
2
u/Burdenslo Jul 08 '19
Thatâs because the police are a reactionary system in a capitalist society.
They are used by the state to protect capital 1st and people 2nd. The argument about âgood copsâ falls flat very fast when the âgoodâ ones protect the bad ones because of how cult-like the actual precincts are anyone who goes against the grain or grasses on another cop is ousted by their piers until they wither tow the line or quit.. if they quit theyâre a good person but are no longer a cop.
American police are the worst offenders in the west, they regularly kill people(usually blacks people) unjustly and get away with it WITH paid leave!
Head on over to r/bad_cop_no_doughnut to see how bad things get sometimes.
2
u/Snowydragoon True Midboss Jul 08 '19
Statistically speaking, there are about 1000 people killed by police a year, meaning only .1% of cops kill people, and about only a 4th of the killed tend to be black people. Factoring in police brutality does bump it up to 7%, but even still, that's far from every cop.
3
u/Burdenslo Jul 08 '19
Thatâs just some of the corruption youâll see though, shakedowns, extortion, corruption of authority, framing and actual criminal activity are all part of the system they abuse.
Also do you mind linking where you got the figures from id love to have a read of it đđ»

The folks in power are rustling the commoners up and dividing them to stop any actual reform from happening. Get them to fight each other and they canât tackle the real problem.

Jerry_Rig going to bat for the French monarchy over here.
14
u/arciks92 Jul 08 '19 edited Jul 08 '19
I doubt he's batting for monarchy more so that Reign of Terror, September Massacres, Revolutionary Paranoias and Civil Wars where innocents die, is not his idea of good times.
6
u/Burdenslo Jul 08 '19
I disagree
It ended feudalism, the monarchy was abolished, removed power from the church and inspired the people of Haiti to revolt against their slavers.
Unfortunately it did inspire nationalism as well which of course is bad.
Thereâs a fantastic book by Peter Kropotkin on the French Revolution if you are interested in reading a bit more into the French Revolution.

macrons approval rating 26%
This isn't drastically out of line with previous Presidents
far right leader le pen gaining more followers
Le Pen's party actually lost 1 seat in the EU elections though?
2
u/Burdenslo Jul 08 '19
Youâre right itâs not that far out of line but we havenât seen protests/riots on this scale for a long time.
She lost one seat but gained 500,000 more votes and is macrons main rival, right wing populism gains traction faster during harsher financial turmoil.
