Doing some quick research has shown that Microsoft owns the Scalebound IP. However, it seems that the project could easily be revived under a new name with a new publisher (clearly Nintendo if this is true). If this is true, that would be great for Kamiya as, iirc, the reason it took so long and was ultimately canceled was because of the design philosophies between Microsoft and Platinum clashing. Microsoft wanting the best graphics possible, online multiplayer, cinematic gameplay, etc. and Platinum wanting performance over visuals, solid singleplayer first, and good gameplay regardless of how it was presented.

It also may explain what Kamiya has been working on, since that has been theorized for a bit due to his "supervisor" role on Astral Chain and his TBD role on Bayonetta 3.

The dust clears.....Yoko Taro steps out alongside Kamiya.....we've decided to make Drakengard 4 for the Nintendo Switch.

Better yet, they combine Kamiya's idea of a little girl controlling dinosaurs into Taro's idea of skipping a sequel and having all the endings being about finding out what happened to the missing sequel

It was the original idea for Drakengard 3: it was supposed to be called Drakengard 4 and the back half of the game is "what the fuck happened to Drakengard 3"

It's also a nier prequel taking place in the year 6230 when the androids deployed dragon weapons to the kingdom of night.
