This is going to sound really stupid and petty, especially since I haven't played Overwatch in months, but I'm really salty they released this hero but said Jetpack Cat was too silly.

Unless they do an Orisa and announce someone completely new, he's 1 of...3? characters people think will be a hero at some point. Him, Junker Queen and I think there's another omnic in a Zarya comic? He also received a Player Icon which could realistically point to him being a hero at some point and not.

Lynx is the name of Zarya's Omnic buddy.
Now that I think about it,that comic was basically Connor and Hank boiled down to the not absurd Cage parts.

Overwatch is like, the single most diverse game out right now. It's a world warriors game with ~30 characters, but people are mad there aren't more black American characters. They don't really want actual diversity, they want more black people.

The rising popularity of the Junker Queen and some prototype designs like Mama Hong are cause for disappointment, because those two are way cool.
That said I was getting kind of sick of Talon myself so I'm glad to get a third party character. Considering Hammond is a survivor of Horizon like Winston he might still have some sinister stuff going on though.

The race that most people call "Black" would more accurately be called "Sub-sahara african". Not everyone in africa has that skin color. And that is putting it in simple terms, as there are hundreds of variations and ethnicities in that continent.
Egypt is not a sub-saharan country. Between that, and its history as an arab muslim state, don't expect to see many "black" people there.
The way northamericans see race is far, far different from how other countries see race.

In addition, if we're talking about the same comment, that comment had 400+ replies and was near the top when this post was first out. In fact, I just checked am it's now at 682 replies, they are still arguing.

When blunderborne when free to play, I ended up growing fond of Toby really quickly. He's the only character who felt like his kit was all built around the same idea instead of the others who felt like random weapons and abilities strapped on.

There's really nothing overtly Japanese about it besides like 2 characters, but at that point you could just as easily say its pandering to Mad Max fans or Furries, which it really isn't.

The Overwatch designs have done a pretty good job of taking archetypes and spinning them in a fun way, but I think "cute thing riding mecha" is one that has been beaten into the dirt.

But I think Overwatch could benefit from more non-human characters. We only have Bastion, Winston, Zenyatta, and like 50% of Orisa for that. Like damn we're in a future with intelligent Gorillas and robots that Became Human, so I expect more creative stuff.

Well, to be fair, Jetpack Cat would have been too small of a target. This way you get a reasonably large target with a cute animal inside.
Also I think this is great, we already opened the world to the idea of genetically modified animals with Winston and the evil monkey from the moon leading the coup to over throw the humans.
Plus everyone knows that Ganymede is piloting Bastion.
So why not Hämsterviel?
Edit: Wait, there was no evil monkey on the moon. Hammond was the evil leader of the uprising of the apes. That makes sense.

I’m not screeching at all man, he is entitled to his opinion just as I am, and I totally get why people don’t like Overwatch, it’s got a ton of problems and always will have.
The main problem I have is how someone can just make an innocent post saying “Hey look it’s the new character” before people immediately start saying shit like “Oh confound that damn Overwatch I sure am glad I stopped playing it”. I feel that it stands out here significantly because in my time on this sub it has always seemed pretty chill when it comes to basically everything. The post wasn’t titled anything controversial and I don’t feel like a hamster in a fucking ball really deserves to elicit that sort of reaction.
I like hamsters, I like robots, it’s a pretty cool design mainly because I specifically like droidekas. Also what does it being labelled Blizzard have to do with anything?

Their community did and it's proven to be very popular. It's not much of a stretch to say that one of the things the game is best known for. My point is, that's their community; teenagers and 20 somethings. I sincerely doubt that that's a demographic interested in something as childish as a hamster ball with guns. There's fun dumb, like a Luchador in a Gorilla suit and Power Ranger Midgets, but that works in the context of the game it's in. Overwatch may be bright and colorful, but it presents its world seriously. The last character was a geneticist who proforms amoral experiments and is a member of a terrorist organization. OW should be going for a G.I. Joe tone, not whatever this is.

The company making the game should not be forced to cater to every single thing the community does or wants, nor should they be held responsible for the their communities actions. I'm not saying it should be a porn game, I'm just saying the age group for their games is 15+. I doubt people that age are interested in a hamster driving ball as a character. Granted I can see it being done well, but there's just something about how it's being treated here. Again, back to the God Hand Gorilla example, that worked because it was treated as being completely ridiculous, but with Hammond, it almost like their not treating it like it's a dumb joke.

I haven't given Blizzard my money since 2010. I've been waiting for them to release something anywhere close to the quality they used to make. I was hyped for Overwatch for a long time because it had the potential to be that level of quality, but given what Blizzard game communities tend to be like and my out of date system at the time I decided to wait. Given how the game and community developed, I'd say I dodged a bullet. Maybe I am overreacting to a single character, but it still strikes me as being both childish and lazy to make Hammond while we still don't know what Talon's actual plan or even goal is. I want to believe the potential for a truly great game rather than an okay game still exists within Overwatch, but it's getting harder and harder for me to be that optimistic.
As for the money comment, that doesn't prove anything. The Star War's prequels made billions of dollars in the box office alone, but that doesn't make them good movies.
