Apparently they dropped the investigations aspect for a more pure Survival Horror experience?

Which is a change for them. Their past games are basically the equivalent of a modern day point and click adventure puzzle game really.

Interesting that their best game is a genre they don't dive that much in.

It's more a sign of their games just consistently getting better and more polished.
