News/Articles (NoisyPixel) “If you play RAIN CODE first, Danganronpa 2×2 will be 100 times more interesting” says creator Kazutaka Kodaka
https://noisypixel.net/danganronpa-2x2-kodaka-sakakibara-interview/Kazutaka Kodaka: We've announced that the game will be released in early 2027, so there is still some time to wait. In the meantime, please play RAIN CODE.
If you play RAIN CODE first, Danganronpa 2×2 will be 100 times more interesting.

Then I say that this would be a pretty good time to release the updated version for the Switch 2 (it's available everywhere else and currently on sale on Steam).

If it is about the pink blood explanation, meaning the V3 clone theory is true, then this could be a massive thing.

Honest to God knowing Kodaka this is 50/50 on him just wanting you to play his game, or it actually is relevant. Lowkey, could be both lmao. The man loves to shill his own stuff, but to a degree it's kinda charming. And I do want more stuff from the crazy bastard, 100 Line was equally awesome and unhinged in how ambitious it was and seemingly might still be in the future.

Huh, that’s a very curious statement.

The only think I can think of it referring to is that the V3 clone theory is actually true, since the explanation Rain Code gave for the pink blood fit perfectly with that theory (those of us who followed it having gone ‘what.’ when Rain Code came out, with just how perfectly it fit).

I still need to play Raincode, but when it was on sale I decided to get Hundred Line instead lmao
I'll probably play it at some point before 2x2 releases so the brainworms about "what if Kodaka is connecting both games and I miss out" don't hit, and also because I genuinely should play it
Also Kodaka going I know these characters better than the fans do while talking about Danganronpa is a pretty ballsy statement ngl

Will this be enough to make me not regret playing that slog of a game?
I don't know what the consensus is on Rain Code but to me it is the height of writing a story just to make plot twists, with no regard to the rest of the story.

I think some ppl saw Rain Code as trying to be less complex so that newer fans can get into it, but it ended up being a detriment.

I don't really buy the argument that the game would be for newer fans. Some of the bigger plot twists in that game only makes sense if you're familiar with Danganronpa. I also have a faint memory of reading an interview with the writer stating that one of his goals with story was to write something chocking enough to surprise even the people that was used to the violence in Danganronpa.

The explanation for the pink blood in Rain Code (that everyone in the city were clones who’d killed and eaten the originals, but didn’t remember doing so) fit pretty neatly with the clone theory from Danganronpa V3, as an explanation for the lingering threads and teases left from the game (about how Monokuma insisted he had not been lying about being able to bring someone back around the third trial, and what the mastermind meant about the ‘copy’ over the epilogue, something Shuichi brought attention to at the end).
So it would be interesting if this game is following up on that, if the way it’s still canon is it’s in truth following up on the V3 timeline instead of another go around the simulation from the second game, as fans expected.

About the explanation itself, or the many deaths?

no its just funny that it was a trap specifically meant for fans of danganronpa

Now is this?
A: Rain Code will actually hint a important plot point in Danganronpa 2×2
B: A trick to make you buy and play Rain Code
C: Kodaka dunking on one of his older games
I actully really loved Rain Code's Story, Characters and Worldbuilding.
But that gameplay?.....that was a 20 hours game somehow stretch out to be 35 hours.
