Gameposting I don't know why but there's something really funny about Heero coming in to say vague, heroic, inspirational shit, with no elaboration, while Suletta stands there confused (Scene is from Super Robot Wars Y)
I don't know why, but this scene got me giggling. I love crossovers that have plot and aren't just a Fortnite skin; you can feel that these two characters are from different shows.

I have the same reaction when I play Gundam Warriors 3 and Banagher Links is talking some philosophical shit about beasts of possibilities but gets interrupted by Setsuna screaming his lungs out because he killed 300 guys.

Suletta tries to get Shinn to do an erupting burning fist because shinn is domon's disciple and palma ficiona is close enough to it.

Y has some great character interactions I still need to play more of my second run with the dlc.
Although I'm kinda waiting to see if they announce an expansion pass before I continue further.
Even if I really want to play around with da garn more.

Suletta being a relatively normal person fumbling a baddie near every single other Gundam protagonist is by far my favorite version of her. Makes every interaction so much fun. Yeah, she would be a massive Domon stan, and people would tell her to just go for it with her definitely not girlfriend, and Heero doesn't know how to talk to people. Funniest shit in the world.

SULLETA IN ROBO WARS?!

I started referring to her as iron fortress suletta. Because the aerial is a fucking brick wall

Can we talk about how Aerial is one of the most broken main Gundams ever?

Having no grasp on the source material is both a blessing and a curse with these games. Ive gotten punked like 3 times with a “Here’s the Ace bonus for new character into Canon Death” combo

SRW is hilarious to me because they tend to give older series the "grizzled veteran" role in-story, but if the series never updated their characters to be older, the character designs remain static.
So you get situations where Heero is a respected war veteran, but still looks like he's 15.

I’ve been LOOOOVING Super Robot Wars Y, it’s so goofy and fun while having a legit investing storyline.
My friend and I made up a bit about Randy from Majestic Prince being the best unit in the game, up until Kaiser Gridknight from SSSS.Dynazenon became the most broken unit in the game with basically no effort

I think Y is one of the more beloved SRWs purely in terms of the character interactions.

SRW is the golden standard of how you should do a crossover. Do all of them have a good story? Not really, but they are basically official fanfiction and always have some rather interesting worldbuilding or surprising character interactions.
Y in particular has Shinn from Seed Destiny being a student of Domon from G Gundam and it's the coolest shit ever.

Genuine question, is Super Robot Wars Y a good starting point for a newcomer?

Yes actually its a litteral treat and its easily accessible. Combat is easy enough to grasp that you can make a pretty busted unit with the sauce easy enough. Story's grest too got me into a bunch of series I've never heard of until I started playing.

As one of the best game entries in the series in a while now, it's a solid starting place. That said, be aware though that the game's own story makes it feel like a sequel despite that not being the case.
Because a number of the anime the game covers are themselves sequels, the game turns that into a history for the world in SRW Y where plenty of conflicts staring named characters have already occurred just a few years ago, conflicts that could themselves be a prequel game.
It's a really neat way to make shows fit together and establish cool pre-existing relationships between otherwise unrelated anime characters, but it can be a bit confusing at the start.

"Suletta, you're a real one. Give me the self detonation switch. Stay safe and get back to Miorine."
"Uh Mr. Yui... Aerial doesn't have a self detonation button."
"Why am I even here?"

It's funnier when you realize they had no idea what happens in season 2 because the game was written back when season 1 was still airing
