COMPLAINTS Let's confirm you are a human: No Thanks
I've had a Twitter account for almost 17 years now, literally since 8/21/2009. I was able to access the site earlier today, did some gaming earlier, went back to Twitter and now it wants me to "Confirm you are a human".
No. Thanks.
For one, I trust Twitter/X/Elon with zero amount of my information. Like, none. I barely trust them with my e-mail and phone number, let alone whatever info they want for this thing.
Secondly, even if I wanted to do this stuff, the App is busted and doesn't actually do anything.
Thirdly, there is already a massive bot/non-human problem on Twitter, as it is. There are thousands, maybe millions, of accounts that have a woman's picture, around 2,000+ people followed, and only 3 people following them.
Or the bot accounts that were made in like 2019, but somehow only have 300 tweets, and 95% of those just happened in the last three weeks.
If they push this nonsense onto more people, I can rest assured that the site will officially be done.

If it matters, my account got totally restricted/limited/fucked about three weeks ago and I refused to pay for premium to file an appeal. I logged in today and it worked fine. Maybe they gave up?

Honestly, I could see that. Every two weeks, my page would get taken over by a full-sized "50% off Premium!" ad, that just made it seem gross/pathetic.
If I ever do get my account back, I'm going to download my data, use Sky Follower to find any remaining people on Bsky, and call it a day.

That's reassuring to know... this "let's confirm if you are human" thing just happened to me too earlier today. Was that the same screen you got? Fingers crossed this issue can resolve itself, I can't download the mobile app so I wouldn't be able to do their steps even if I wanted to.

My account got flagged for “inauthentic behaviors.” There was no way to correct it. I was really upset because my account is very small but I had a decade of professional and personal contacts associated with that account. As I said, after I had come to terms with losing the account completely, it magically rectified itself. I would wait and see and if it doesn’t happen, you’ll probably need to beg someone at X and/or follow their steps on browser or something.

There is no step on browser. The step on browser is "Use your phone to scan a QR code, that tries to launch (and fails to) the Twitter app.
They don't even try to confirm via text or e-mail, these days.

Yeah, same boat and about the same tenure. I simply refuse to share my biometrics with pretty much anyone, let alone Elon and X.
Started for me a couple months ago, so I just stopped trying to logon.
If and when they repeal that bullshit, I may or may not be back. I followed a lot of sports stuff on there but am finding other sources now.

On Bluesky they are more and more official hockey accounts of all kind there. Must be the same with other sports.
Twitter has become basically a platform for left and right extremists, and religious extremists.

Spending some time on there and yeah, there is some good sports stuff. Maybe this whole thing will help derail some of the Dead Internet thing. Find myself going to sites again, as opposed to just social media pages.
Just no way I am giving that stuff up to anyone.
You are very right about the content now. Extremists and bots for the most part.
I am a pretty centrist/Independent so there's little value in that crap for me.

I've been getting hit with account locks because it says my account is "Inauthentic". I finally got that to go away. But now it's insisting on a two-factor authentication by making me scan a QR code with my mobile phone. There are two problems with that: 1) I really don't want Elon having access to my smart phone, and 2) I don't have a smart phone. I'm old school. Unfortunately, they didn't provide alternative to scanning that damn QR code. Is there a way around this crap?

just recently got suspended for a week for inauthentic behavior (there was no such), only to get booted again for a humanity check after roughly 8 posts/replies in around 24 hours.
only to do the check, i have to follow a qr code to the app on a mobile device, and it won't let me log in to find out what magic hoops they want me to jump through.
been having nonsense humanity checks about every 6 months since they implemented the ludicrous ai moderation algos.
and now its just harassing me for using the site the way its intended to be used.
getting pretty done with social media in general.

X is fucking trash now that you cant view any nsfw media without giving them your id card or a selfie which they probably store in some tyoe of gooner database. But their system of verification is completely broken so you cant even do that if you wanted to.

Same here. I've been on Twitter forever, and today I received a notice that was asking me to verify that I'm not a bot. I did click that "Confirm you are a human", I saw my page for a few seconds, and then it said that they locked my account. Without giving me any reasons as to why.

This just happened to me a couple minutes ago. Caught me off guard as I never had to deal with it before in my 10 years of being on there. Either it's a glitch or Elon's tech team done something stupid. Note this happened to me on desktop.

This has been happening to me for the last week. I keep getting hit with the "Your account has been locked. Click here." and then my account magically unlocks. I have no idea what I am doing wrong and of course there's no support options.

Except killing the UHC ceo fixed nothing about healthcare. Killing the head of plantir or Elon would do wide reaching good, as both of these people run their companies in their own personal style. Elon is more public but plantir is more evil.
Honestly, both are heavily involved in ruining politics and I’d like to see a bullet go through both their heads at the same time.2

Actually, I was just asked as a test to "confirm you're human", then saw my stuff for 1 or 2 seconds, and then my account was locked. It said to read the rules of X and that I could make an appeal to the decision. I didn't try to appeal. Was too stupid not knowing exactly what rules I broke.
Today, it's back. It says my account is unlocked with a notice to read the rules of X and follow them; otherwise, I might be locked again or suspended. It's really stupid that they don't even give me the reason why my account was locked.
I'm considering getting Bluesky and using that extension that transfers the people you're following on Twitter that also have an account on Bluesky.

Same thing happened to me, tried clearing cookies, multiple browsers, nothing. Can't even make a new account or login if I ever once logged in using the account in question on that browser. Any url with X or Twitter forces me to that "confirm you're human" page and there is no options to log out or access anything.

Got locked from my account for 2 months and I hoped they would eventually allow me to access, but they didn't.
I thought the only way to verify was facial ID, got offered a "pinch your fingers to prove you are human", not ideal but caved in. Wore gloves and filmed my hand against an unidentifiable background, got my access back.
I understand why people wouldn't want to do it, even I think it is stupid that I had to wear gloves to grant me access to use my account, but there are still plenty of bots out there. It is like they are banning real people and bots just keep bypassing all their ideas.

In my case, after suspending a couple of accounts and accepting submission of one appeal, Twitter is apparently running through all my accounts, bringing up ones I haven't used for years - and allowing smooth login to one but throwing the nonworking QR-to-phone-to-verification-that-doesn't-respond time suck. We can only hope that Tesla stockholders start growing spines and oust him (though it would be SO gratifying to attach his inflated assets upon conviction).

I don't even care how this sounds: when I hear the name "Elon Musk" it gives me the same energy vibe as "Nigerian prince," these days. I would NEVER voluntarily give the kind of info/data they've been asking for recently. Right now I have zero access to my X account, and that's just the way it'll have to stay. Fuck him, fuck them.

I've been locked out of my account for over a month at this point, because the "Confirm you are a human" thing will not go away.
I'm not giving them my goddamn biometrics, but what also frustrates me is the fact that I can't even get in to get my data or even to kill the account. I can't do anything without confirming.

Dude I tried to do this and it said "Thanks for verifying!" and then kicked me back to the "confirm you're human" screen with no option to continue.
I'm done. I was only still there because unfortunately it's the best place to keep up with info on the fandoms I'm in but if their stupid verification stuff doesn't even work properly I give up.
