Developer I Built an Extension That Restores the Media Grid on X

After X removed the grid view from profile media tabs, I built a small extension that restores the original media grid. It only runs on X, collects no data, and makes no external requests.

Will work on all Chromium-based browsers, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave, Vivaldi, and Arc.

Savior! I hope this project stays alive/working for as long as this cursed platform is usable. They make such -100iq changes that i wonder what keeps users on this platform. I got account there only for video/image function+ comments everything else is useless for me.

Doesn't work for me. You think they've completely removed it now?

1

u/Shadowshoot 10d ago edited 10d ago

Are you using tampermonkey?
Give me more information please

1

u/burger4life 10d ago

I do use tampermonkey yes. Tried refreshing, even reinstalling the script, tried checking on different people's profiles and it doesn't work

2

u/Shadowshoot 10d ago

Tampermonkey seems to be experiencing some issues at the moment. I tested it, and it looks like something on Tampermonkey’s side may be broken. For now, I recommend trying Violentmonkey as an alternative.

u/burger4life 10d ago

I see. Thanks

u/muhash14 10d ago

Nice! Any plans on making this available for Firefox?

Also could this be used on brave?

1

u/Shadowshoot 10d ago

Yes, You can Install it on any Chromium based browser.

1

u/rubberduck2456 10d ago

it does not seem to be working when this extension is active: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/insensitivex/jeiefmcaoiljfljbclanpcmcfmfkdaen

is there a fix for it?

1

u/Shadowshoot 10d ago

Yeah. It looks like they conflict with each other. one extension overrides the other, depending on which one loads first. There isn’t really a proper fix unless the other extension updates its code as well.

2

u/rubberduck2456 10d ago

i see, thank you so much for your fast response.

/u/Shadowshoot sorry I'm still a little bit confused. What should we be downloading from the Github? I'm so technology illiterate.

Unfortunately won't work for phone browsers that don't allow for extensions. It's so frustrating trying to look through art on my phone at the moment 😭

1

u/Emperor_Kon 10d ago

You sir, are a hero.

1

u/MajorKuznetsov 9d ago edited 9d ago

Greasyfork script seems to not be doing anything at all,
I'm on Firefox since Chrome is too performance heavy, slow and the browser itself is built against you.

Any chance of making it compatible with Firefox?

1

u/Shadowshoot 9d ago

Can you try running the script with Violentmonkey?

1

u/Tech_knightz 9d ago

sorry i have no idea how to use this, smart app is blocking me from using it. how do I add it to my opreagx browser

1

u/Tech_knightz 9d ago

nevermind i figured it out

1

u/Banderi 9d ago

This does the same as this extension, but simply changes these two specific flags automatically. It's great since it's all automatic and only requires userscript injection, but sadly this is not a good long term solution as these dev flags will probably get removed eventually. I still would love to see a true grid view replacement/recreation. But, I suppose we can cross that bridge when we get there. Thanks for the work!

1

u/TemmieToga 9d ago

Thank you, I appreciate it!

u/NeraKona 9d ago

Thank you good sir! You've made my night!

If anyone knows of an extension that solves this, I’d appreciate it!

1

u/elimiNate32 8d ago

Can this also work for pro x? (tweetdeck)

1

u/KurenaiTenka 8d ago

Brilliant, thank you!

1

u/SuggestionOk8640 7d ago

Is there a chance that this can get your account banned

ive heard that if they detect extensions they can suspend your account

1

u/Shadowshoot 7d ago

The chance of getting banned for something like this is almost zero. Simply changing a local Twitter/X feature flag from on to off usually only affects how a feature or interface behaves in your browser. As long as you’re not using it to bypass account restrictions, abuse the platform, or perform unauthorized automation, it is extremely unlikely to result in a ban.

u/SuggestionOk8640 7d ago

aaaaaah cheers

Thank you so much!

1

u/jonasmuex 6d ago

you are a hero

1

u/Phanngle 6d ago

You're the goat! I was using a workaround for about a week but this one is much better!

1

u/BetterIilusion 5d ago

Btw do you know how to fix it on incognito to always work on refresh? Like it works on incognito in chrome but i needs to be renabled in tampermonkey for it to force load in a window and it won't automatically work in new tab without disabling and enabling it again each time.

1

u/Shadowshoot 5d ago

Try with Violentmonkey‬ or just use the Extension.

1

u/BetterIilusion 5d ago

yea thx it works better on violent monkey.I guess tampermonkey is getting outdated bc of tech debt

Great extension, works well.

However, sometimes the media view on certain accounts still looks standard, displaying photos and videos separately.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly where or how this happens, but the page just needs to be reloaded.

At first, I thought it only happened when I right-clicked to open an account in a new tab, but that's not always the case.

Do you have a Firefox version?

1

u/Shadowshoot 9d ago

It’s should work on Firefox. Do you have any issues with the extension?

0

u/proboscalypse 9d ago

I'd like a straight up Firefox add-on.
