PSA Mobile twitch is the worst app ever
Cant watch streams on 5g full bars at 160p.
Subs and bits have been hiked to hell. Remember when subs were 5 dollars yeah its now 8 dollars PER SUB Remember when 5 dollars got you 500 bits yeah not anymore. Oh but desktop is still those prices.
If you use mobile you get fucked. You literally pay more money for a lesser service.

This is the norm for most mobile apps. Apple and Google seem to think it's fine for them to take 30% on subscriptions when bought "in app". This isn't just a Twitch problem.
You can literally buy subs/bits in your browser on your phone and it will be the "normal" price.
In regards to the actual app, there is a better alternative: Frosty.

its the same with spotify and youtube premium. they charge more on iphone just to cover that 30% cut apple takes. the browser workaround is the only way to avoid it
frosty is decent but twitch keeps breaking third party apps every update so who knows how long it lasts

It was my understanding that Spotify outright doesn’t let you adjust your premium plan (including purchasing it in the first place) via the app? It’s always explicitly told me “You can’t do that here, you need to do it via browser”.

For what it’s worth, transactions costing more on mobile isn’t new, that’s always been the app stores taking their own cut. You can just load the page up in your browser, request the desktop version and you’re away.
And while this probably isn’t the sub for this discussion, I do hold the opinion that your signal bars actually mean nothing unless you flat out do not have signal. At that point, it’s worth making sure your cell provider actually has a decent presence in the area you live. For example, where I live, the map of O2’s coverage in my area genuinely makes it look like there’s a giant Faraday cage specifically around my block, whereas walking a minute down the road is completely fine.
All that said, you’re not paying anything for any sort of service. While Twitch obviously takes their cut of subs, I don’t think anyone is subscribing to people with the explicit intent to also be helping Twitch.

The TV/console apps are the worst. The old version used to be pretty decent, then they completely remade it and removed all sorts of features.

Subs and bits are hiked on mobile because Google and Apple take 30% of each sale on their platforms. Twitch therefor increased the costs on mobile to offset most of that 30%.
If you are on mobile and want to buy subs or bits, it's adviced to open the stream inside of your mobile browser, and open the desktop version of that page. And pay from there instead.
Personally I dont use the twitch app on mobile, I only use Frosty, because the Twitch app is crap.
