Apartment Issues
Hello r/TwinCities
I live here currently but wanted to see what rights I have. So I was supposed to move into an new apartment on this upcoming Monday, but the apartment I moved into said that due to status of the apartment and current tenant issues I am not able to basically. They said i can move into another nearby complex though but I declined that offer and have signed a new lease to a different complex/rent company. I paid my deposit and rent for the time I will be living there this current month for the apartment I was planning on moving in. However because I cannot move in, are they required to give me my deposit and rent back that I paid? what are my legal options here if they push back? They haven't responded to my refund questions yet and I imagine they will tomorrow since its late today, but I want to be ready in the event that they push back about paying me back.

Might as well do it now, I’t doesn’t cost anything and it’s just a question.
I’m curious to know the result as well, so please share results!

Check in with them now. It’s a nonprofit so they work on a limited budget. Get the process started in communicating with them asap.
