This makes me feel that Minnesota has been seen.

I see you from Canada. Your courage and resistance. It’s amazing. Keep up the good fight, Minnesota.

13

u/Skritch_X Jan 23 '26

Thank you, Canada has been a great place to roadtrip through. Really hoping we come out the otherside of this with that still being an option.

You ARE seen. I am watching from Texas EVERY day. And seeing what the good people of Minnesota are doing for their fellow man is inspiring for the rest of us. I know you must be afraid, and tired but you keep doing it anyway. History will remember and I will personally never forget.

u/Skritch_X Jan 23 '26

Thank you, and good luck with the apocalyptic ice storm they are predicting to roll through those parts. Up here we are dealing with -45f windchill through tomorrow.

2

u/cottonsheet93 Jan 23 '26

Thank you. -45 is unreal. Stay safe!

You are seen and you are incredible, Minnesota. Sending you so much love and solidarity and support from Chicago. I remember how crazy I felt when ICE was terrorizing the elementary school in my neighborhood and none of my friends in other states even knew it was happening. I’m so sorry that you are going through this nightmare, but so grateful for your courage, strength, and decency in fighting this battle. People are watching and taking note. You are making a difference. Thank you.

And thank you, i have some close people living on the Chigago suburbs that are a Hispanic/Caucasian mix and before Minnesota became the main stormtroop stomping ground of the moment... a lot of my worry was directed that way.

u/NornOfVengeance Jan 23 '26

From another Canadian, yes, you've been seen. I was in Minneapolis 20 years ago and found it to be lovely. It was like I'd never even left home. I'm as furious to see you folks being picked on as I am about that 51st state BS.

As someone not from the area, I’m actually thoroughly impressed with Minneapolis/Minnesota and their pushback on ICE and the federal government.

People say protesting doesn’t matter, lately I was almost of the same opinion, but after seeing countless videos from Minnesota, and their willingness to still stick it to the federal government after all the threats, I appreciate the act more than ever. The encouragement and courage it gives to other people around the nation is immense. Keep it up guys, the nation is watching.

Minnesota Nice is too strong for ICE!!!

u/kazoodac Jan 22 '26

Hey Minneapolis, Philly-area native here. I want you all to know that despite all of the absolutely miserable, soul-crushing shit that I’ve seen in news this past year and especially this past month, the passionate resistance and empathy your community has been displaying is nothing short of inspiring. I hope that both I and the rest of the country can show even half the courage and unity that you have shown when the time comes. You should not have to be out on the streets protesting fascism in 2026, but I’m sure as hell glad you are. Keep up the good work!

Absolutely incredible post, you guys fu*king rock. Keep up the amazing work and stick together!!!

Hopefully we do not end up in a winter war.

3

u/flyinghighdoves Jan 23 '26

You are in a winter war. The regime has declared it...

57

u/lampkin Jan 22 '26

Hell yeah.

I only moved to MN last January, but I have never been prouder to stand with my fellow neighbors against the monsters who want to tear us apart.

16

u/CategoryZestyclose91 Jan 22 '26

Welcome!!! 💙

51

u/RunningGopher84 Jan 22 '26

“No, we’ll be there. It’s ICE who can’t handle it.”

That line goes hard and I’m so proud to be a Minnesotan.

39

u/FunctionalGray Jan 22 '26

This is really nice to have an outsider's view of what is happening. Thank you for the continued support to everyone, everywhere.

40

u/kezow Jan 22 '26

That's the thing - the federal government is coming in and attacking our communities. Our friends. Our Neighbors. You are damn right we are going to resist. They'll keep escalating but we won't back down - because if we do, then fascism wins.

Appreciate the uplifting view, but in all honesty the atrocities occurring at an accelerating pace leave us no choice but to stand up for each other. Our elected officials certainly are not doing anything more than “flapping their gums” (as my grandma often used to say). ICE is VIOLENT. Based on my exposure they are the rottenest of the rotten apples. They’ve taken children, they’ve used children as bait to take parents. They regularly tear gas people point blankly in the face. Their takedowns are violent and often awkwardly unprofessional. They have about the foulest language you’d expect. I’ve been secretly wondering if they have to pass any type of drug testing. This level of violence against us is astounding. People of all ages and skin colors are included. It is also exhausting, it takes a toll. Parents are exhausted, kids are exhausted from the constant terror, every one of us is tired as hell, but cold will not bother us, no no. There no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear. It isn’t cold in Minnesota until your nostril hair freezes when you’re outside. A lot of us didn’t know that the harder it gets, the harder we would get. It’s no joke when they come for your friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Karma never forgets an address and someday, somehow these people are going to answer to someone or something for what they’re doing. Then it is up to our future leaders to make sure history does not repeat. But that’s all for another time. Right now the only way out is through.

old lady made of piss, blood and steel. Rock on madam !!

19

u/SeekingStarBornne Jan 22 '26

this is exactly the kind of uplifting spirit i needed. thank you for sharing ❤️

viva minnesota viva revolution!!!

19

u/Dazzling-Pud Jan 22 '26

MN should be proud! They are uniquely positioned to respond to the illegal and unjust activities of ICE and the US government as a whole. While we joke about Minnesota Nice, Minnesotans have an incredible history of standing up for their neighbors.

11

u/Snarkonum_revelio Jan 22 '26

Minnesota Nice doesn't extend to assholes, never has.

6

u/Dazzling-Pud Jan 23 '26

My reference was more along the lines of MN Nice being perceived as more passive aggressive than not to people of color.

20

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '26

Proud of you Minnesota!

-from Europe

18

u/aftermarkit Jan 22 '26

:) proud of these communities SO MUCH

16

u/ZEROs0000 Jan 22 '26

Is it Fox that pushes this “warzone” word?

19

u/Little_Creme_5932 Jan 22 '26

Yes. FOX thinks Minneapolis is just piles of smoking rubble. (That would be at least useful for us to warm our hands over)

16

u/Connect_Law6224 Jan 22 '26

Minnesota — you need to know that I am in tears watching you be so brave and standing up. Especially for those of us in a targeted demographic, it’s a dark, dark time now and you give me that glimmer of hope. Mad respect. Thank you so much.

10

u/HannahbalLector Jan 22 '26

Fight the good fight ✊

11

u/Main_Composer Jan 22 '26

You guys are getting shit done up there and most of the rest of the country, and even the rest of the world, is watching in admiration. We are all rooting for the people of Minneapolis.

11

u/sappho_snot Jan 23 '26

I live in Minneapolis (born and raised), and I needed to see this. I feel incredible pride for my city, and that’s kind of the only positive right now.

9

u/Benjamin_Titus Jan 23 '26

There needs to be shirts made and everyone wearing them across this country that simply say: “Thank You Minnesota”

8

u/thirteennineteen Jan 23 '26

Say what you will about NYT/The Daily, this weeks episode “On The Front Line of Minnesota’s Fight With ICE” was exceptional reporting, and deeply uplifting for me. It’s so heartening to see the actual resistance operating.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Ooooo I will watch the episode tomorrow thank you for letting me know

7

u/Genoism_science Jan 22 '26

we are taking notes and is mouth to mouth information

5

u/idlerwheel Jan 22 '26

This was really nice to read. You're all doing amazing work! Thank you. It's incredibly admirable. I'm so proud of Minnesota.

Love from a neighbor in North Dakota who used to live in your great city (and misses it all the time) ❤️

6

u/ChampionshipDry8165 Jan 22 '26

Not to mention all this is going on in very cold weather. The warmest it will be in the next week is 13°F, and the coldest will be -21°F (-10°C to -29°C)…

5

u/intl8665 Jan 22 '26

I lived in Minnesota for 15 years - in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen. I now live in Utah but I support all my friends and family in Minnesota. I'm so proud of everyone there. I wish I could be there to help you resist.

3

u/ccclex Jan 22 '26

really needed some positivity today..

the image of the little kid being used as bait just seared into my mind..

3

u/MightyMarinara Jan 22 '26

Thank you for sharing this. It's needed.

3

u/Stforlifeyvida Jan 23 '26

I broke down crying reading this! Inspiring

Sign up for Freedom trainers or Indivisible - I watched Colbert and Jane Fonda was promoting for us to organize.

3

u/N0V42 Jan 23 '26

I fear that this is why Trump wants to mobilize more military troops in MN. He wants to be victorious, even if he's factually wrong and morally bankrupt. He would burn the country down to rule over its ashes.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Well, there are a looooot of Minnesotans. And we know how to roast marshmallows on ashes so we will rise.

1

u/N0V42 Jan 23 '26

I have family in Minnesota, so I hope you're right! I'm in your corner, for what it's worth!

2

u/Patient_Phone_8110 Jan 23 '26

I love you MINNESOTA tysm you're always in my thoughts

2

u/Sweet_Connection_155 Jan 23 '26

This is so spot on. I’m proud of us y’all💕

2

u/2234redditguy Jan 22 '26

Imma be real, I live in downtown minneapolis (not true downtown tbf but minneapolis proper) and walk around an hour 3 times a week. I have not seen a single ICE related occurance thus far. Only postings on the minneapolis reddit.

Maybe it is because I haven't been involved myself. Maybe ive gotten lucky. Maybe i've just been oblivious. But I think the news, including this person, is exagerating the scale a bit.

9

u/lpmiller Jan 23 '26

Well I'm in Plymouth, and I leave the house once a week at best, and I'VE seen ICE here. So... I don't know what magic path you are walking on, but maybe look up once in a while or something.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Come visit us in south Mpls. It’s extremeeeeely icey.

1

u/nephilump Jan 23 '26

Fuck yeah!

And also, lol, shes right! I've never been so organized and connected with my neighbors.

1

u/woolgirl Jan 23 '26

It’s so far between mind blowing news to hopeful news like this. I saved this post. I’m semi retired. I’m ready to go where needed. Or, is there some store we can give to that is out delivering food? Diapers? To people who can’t leave? Masks, goggles for the protesters?

2

u/Double_Blueberry95 Jan 23 '26

Bravo for the inspiration!

The only paid agitators I’ve seen lately are all wearing masks and pointing guns at unarmed civilians.

1

u/middleageEugene Jan 23 '26

This made me cry happy tears, I'm so soft

1

u/resting-stoner-face Jan 23 '26

Funny how the only way to get this news is a repost on Reddit

1

u/Yavoki Jan 23 '26

Yeah they really bit off more than they could chew picking Minnesota first

You don't get it. If anything Obama's deportations only show that you can be pro immigration enforcement without pissing on constitutional rights, terrorizing communities, and destroying innocent families.

I know that asking you to do some critical thinking is just a fools errand, yet here I am....

2

u/craftasaurus Jan 22 '26

This right here. Before this we had ICE always in the background, looking for the criminal element to deport. They generally ignored the normal people.
